Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe
The Cathedral is the mother church of the 630,000 Roman Catholics in the nine-county Diocese of Dallas. Today, the Cathedral serves the largest cathedral congregation in the United States — as well as the largest Latino parish congregation — with 25,000 registered households. Although English-only-speaking parishioners represent fewer than 10 percent of the Cathedral’s congregation, the great diversity of the Cathedral community has enriched and energized the parish The Cathedral Chorale and the Spanish Choir of the Cathedral are but one example of the fellowship and sense of purpose of the parish. The choirs frequently collaborate for special events, and have recorded a compact disc and cassette at the world-class Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. Entitled Alzad La Cruz!, the recording contains both English and Spanish music, and features the world premier of Missa Guadalupe, a bilingual setting of the Mass commissioned by the Cathedral from Dallas composer Joel Martinson. This unity of diverse cultures as well as the majesty of the Cathedral’s spacious and resplendent architecture, gives rise to a spirituality that is a living testament to the catholic notion of community.
Cathedral Santuario de Guadalupe is a place where God’s grace and great promise transcend the boundaries of race, language, creed and time — where God’s people can worship in peace and joy as one body in Christ.

DALLAS– Bishop Edward J. Burns says the Diocese of Dallas will release the names of all clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors in his diocese dating back to 1950 through today. In doing so, he joins the bishops of the 14 other Catholic dioceses in Texas and the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter in taking the action.
The Texas bishops made the decision on September 30, 2018, to release the lists of names in the context of their ongoing work to protect children from sexual abuse, and their efforts to promote healing and a restoration of trust in the Catholic Church.
Bishop Burns says, “Opening our files to outside investigators and releasing the names is something I have been considering for some time. Since I believe it is the right thing to do, the Diocese of Dallas has had outside investigators, a team made up of former FBI, state troopers and other experts in law enforcement, examining our files since February, and they still have work to do.” Bishop Burns went on to say, “My brother bishops and I recognize that this type of transparency and accountability is what the Catholic faithful want and need.”
The bishops say that with 8.5 million Catholics and 1,320 Catholic parishes in Texas, the endeavor to compile a comprehensive list of clergy who have been credibly accused of sexually abusing a minor represents a major project. All dioceses will publish their lists by January 31, 2019.
According to Bishop Burns, “My brother bishops and I hope this action can be a step that leads to healing for all those who have been harmed by members of the Church. I add my sincere sorrow for the pain that has been caused for victims and the Catholic faithful.”
The release of names of clergy credibly accused of sexually abusing a minor is part of an ongoing effort by the dioceses to provide an even safer environment for children. These lists will be updated as new information becomes available.
Anyone who has been sexually abused by clergy is encouraged to contact local law enforcement or call the Texas Abuse Hotline at 1-800-252-5400 or visit txabusehotline.org and the Diocese of Dallas Victim Assistance Coordinator, Barbara Landregan, at 214-379-2812.

Virgin Mary Apparition Caught on Camera (3 photos)
A photo taken by a parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help shows a illuminating human figure that appears to be the Virgin Mary. This miraculous story was reported by WGN-TV Chicago.
One north suburban Catholic Church is talking about a very thought provoking picture, shot with nothing more than an Iphone.
One woman snapped a photo last Friday in the chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Glenview and says she got so much more.
Maureen Kent has been attending Eucharistic adoration at the church for more than 2 years. Kneeling last Friday, she wanted a picture of the Eucharist or host in the monstrance, the ornate gold stand it’s placed in.
The picture showed a bright light, an image larger than a human and appearing to hover next to the host on the alter. Catholics believe the host is the True Body of Christ.
No photo-shopping, she says, no doctoring the digital image. Just what she calls a great surprise when she looked at her screen.
Her friends in the chapel also believe it is the Virgin Mary. Authentication is not, right now, a consideration by Maureen Kent or even the church. They are relishing what they call a miraculous moment, privileged to have seen and believed, they say.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish is located at 1755 Grove St. in Glenview, IL
