The oldest church in Santiago, Iglesia de San Francisco
The San Francisco Church (Spanish: Iglesia de San Francisco) is a Franciscan church on Avenida Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins, in the downtown of Santiago de Chile. The church, along with the adjacent convent, has the distinction of being the oldest colonial-era building in the country.
The church was consecrated in 1622. The bell tower was destroyed by an earthquake in 1647, while the rest of the building successfully resisted it. In 1730 another earthquake badly damaged the rebuilt tower, which was demolished in 1751. The current bell tower is of Victorian architecture and was constructed in the mid-1800s. Its architect was Fermín Vivaceta and features a distinctive clock.
In the early years of the 20th century, a part of the convent was sold and demolished to build the Barrio París-Londres. The other part is the current home of the Museo Colonial.

The Church of the Sacramentinos or Parish of Santísimo Sacramento is a catholic temple located in the commune of Santiago , in the capital of Chile , in the corner of Arturo Prat and Santa Isabel . The architect Ricardo Larraín Bravo was in charge of the construction of the work, the design of this temple is inspired by the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris , France. His style is neo-Byzantine.
In 1911 the construction of the crypt began , which was inaugurated on June 15 , 1919 . Then the construction of the upper part of the church was continued in 1920 , and it was handed over for partial use on March 22 , 1931.

San Fernando acompañó la Misa de Ramos en la Parroquia Aránzazu
Cientos de familias y los sacerdotes de las seis comunidades parroquiales compartieron la tradicional misa previa a Semana Santa. La ceremonia la presidió el Obispo de la Diócesis de San Isidro, Oscar Ojea. El Diputado Provincial, Juan Andreotti, manifestó: “No podemos permitir la forma con la que se está dividiendo el país, porque hace acrecentar la violencia y el que termina perjudicado es el ciudadano que más nos necesita. Los problemas los vamos a resolver si estamos unidos”.
El Municipio de San Fernando acompaña y promueve la cultura de todas las comunidades que conviven en la ciudad. Por eso, autoridades de la Comuna participaron de la tradicional Misa de Ramos, que preanuncia la llegada de Semana Santa y de las festividades pascuales.
“Realmente, poder compartir esta celebración con muchísimos vecinos de todas las parroquias de San Fernando, congregadas acá, es una gran alegría”, sostuvo el Diputado Provincial, Juan Andreotti, quien se hizo presente en la iglesia junto al Secretario de Gobierno de San Fernando, Luis Freitas.
