The open car is the one that the Pope usually uses here in St. Peter's Square that we have always seen in his General Audiences. They have taken two - someone has asked 'why is there a white one and a green one?' Well, the green one is an extra, if there is a need, but there isn't a particular reason for there to be any need. There are two Mercedes jeeps that have been transported to Brazil as panoramic vehicles that the Pope will move around in for the events where you use an open car.

STORYLINE:
The Vatican was on Wednesday gearing up for Pope Francis' forthcoming first trip abroad.
The Pope is due to arrive on July 22 in Rio De Janiero, Brazil, for the Catholic Church's annual weeklong World Youth Day event.
Speaking to reporters at the Vatican on Wednesday, the Papal spokesman noted that the Argentine Pope will use in Rio the same open-topped car he uses for getting around St. Peter's Square.
He will use a closed car for longer distance drives.
In recent times, popes have always used the protected popemobile for forays outside Rome.
Francis, however, ended that tradition when he used an open-topped Fiat during his recent visit to the Italian island of Lampedusa.
Francis has made a point of changing Vatican protocol, especially where it concerns the trappings of the papacy and his ability to connect with ordinary people.
He eschewed Vatican security on his first outing as pope when he visited a Roman basilica the day after his election, and he has chosen to live in the Vatican hotel rather than the fancy, enclosed Apostolic Palace.
The Vatican spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi, announced the change on Wednesday during a briefing about the pope's July 22-28 trip, saying it was clearly Francis' personal decision to leave the popemobile at home.
Lombardi also said the Vatican was aware of the demonstrations in Brazil in recent weeks but had full faith in the Brazilian authorities to guarantee security.

Inside Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian (Portuguese: Catedral Metropolitana de São Sebastião) better known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro (Catedral Metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro) or as the Cathedral of St. Sebastian of Rio de Janeiro (Catedral de São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro).
The cathedral was designed by Edgar Fonseca in a modern style based on Mayan architectural style of pyramids and was built between 1964 and 1979.

Welcome to Petrópolis, Brazil! This is the Imperial City, known for its royal history and located only an hour and a half from Rio De Janeiro. In fact, this city is the former retreat of Brazil's royal family.

We visit the Imperial Museum, a neoclassical palace that was once the residence of Emperor Pedro II. Dom Pedro II ruled for 49 years and, in at least forty summers, he remained in Petrópolis to escape the Rio De Janeiro heat. We tour grounds and gardens of the palace.

Next we visit the Cathedral of Petrópolis, a Gothic Revival cathedral that dominates the skyline.

We finish the day at the Bauernfest (Festival of the German Settlers) a German heritage festival complete with German sausage, beer, and music held here every June. Petrópolis has a large German heritage population and much of the architecture is reminiscent of Germany.

Next, we visit Cervejaria Bohemia (Bohemia Brewery), the oldest brewery in Brazil established in 1853. We taste the different types of beers and join the interactive journey through the evolution of beer through the ages. Prost!
