ACNS: Bath & Wells - Zambia Companion Link 40th anniversary

The Church of England’s Diocese of Bath and Wells and the Church of the Province of Central Africa’s dioceses in Zambia are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their companion link.

The partnership was celebrated at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka last month, attended by the President of Zambia and Anglicans from Bath and Wells as well as local Christians.

Mary Sumner Choir of the Diocese of Lusaka

The Mary Sumner Choir includes women from parishes across the Diocese of Lusaka, Zambia. In April 2019, they performed at a banquet at which leaders of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka and the diocese welcomed an Episcopal Relief & Development pilgrimage led by House of Deputies President Gay Clark Jennings.

In gratitude to God for this priesthood i had my first mass at Waterfalls Parish, St Francis of Assisi on the 27th of July 2014.
i remain grateful to Bishop Dieter Scholtz Sj who ordained me on the 26th of July 2014 at St Georges College.
i am grateful to Fr Von Nidda Sj who preached so well at the first mass and for all the other priests and religious who came to support me. i am more grateful to Fr Mukupo OFM, my parish priest and his ordination team and all the faithful of Waterfalls parish for honouring me with such a beautiful celebration. the choir sang exceptionally well with dancers glorifying God and the alter servers reminding me of my time as one of them some years back.
i remain grateful to the Poor Claire Sisters who prepared everything for the mass especially for their prayers during my formation time.....these are my mothers.

lastly i thank my family for being there always from the beginning of my Jesuit life. may God bless you all.

Mary Sumner Choir is the diocesan choir of Lusaka, Zambia. It was first founded in 1984. Two people from every parish in Lusaka make up the total membership of 60. Here they perform at the Bishop's Palace, Wells in 2016.
