Georgia is experiencing a baby boom - thanks to the country's most senior cleric.
Despite the country's difficult political and economic situation, the birth rate in this small Caucasus nation has increased by 19 per cent.
STORYLINE
Born and blessed, the young of Tbilisi welcomed into the church by Georgian Patriarch Ilia II.
These babies are just a handful of the 57 thousand registered births in 2008 - the highest number in a decade.
The increased birth rate is said to be because of the work of the Patriarch, who promised in 2007 to baptize every third child born to any family.
At that time Georgia had one of the lowest birth rates in the world.
On May 25, Tbilisi Holy Trinity Cathedral was packed with new born children. Up to six hundred infants were baptized that day.
As one mother says:
This day is very important for me, I am very happy that together with the Patriarch I am baptizing this little girl called Nini.
Parents say they are blessed to have the Patriarch, the country's most senior cleric as a Godfather.

The Blessed Virgin Mary: Miracle of the Sun
PLUMMETING BALL OF FIRE
At apparition sites around the globe, a phenomenon known as the Miracle of the Sun has been seen by hundreds of thousands. The first major recorded episode of this sun miracle occurred on October 13, 1917, at Fatima, Portugal, before an estimated 70,000 people.
On this date a severe storm had raged through Europe. The ground was soaked and muddy and everyone was drenched. The apparition appeared to the three young visionaries, who described a lovely lady more brilliant than the sun.
The apparition spoke messages to the children, and just as the apparition was about to leave, the Miracle of the Sun began. Here is an account of what occurred:
As the Blessed Mother was leaving she opened her hands, and from them rays of light extended in the direction of the sun. Gradually the sun grew pale, appeared as a silver disk at which all could gaze directly, without shielding their eyes.
Rays of multicoluored light shot out from the sun in every direction...Then the sun began to spin madly on its axis and appeared like a giant wheel of fire. The sun began to dance wildly. Suddenly the sun seemed to be torn loose from its orbit. It hurtled closer and closer to earth, and looked like it was going to plummet to the earth.
The people were terrified and there arose cries of repentance and appeals for mercy. Many thought it was the end of the world. Then, just as suddenly, the sun stopped plummeting downwards, and in the same swirling motion it began to climb upward until it resumed its place in the sky. The rain-soaked clothes of the 50,000 to 70,000 people were immediately dry. This was an event reported by several newspapers of the day.
SUN MIRACLES INCREASING
The Fatima miracle was just the beginning. Over the last century this sign, as well as many other miracles, have been reported at apparition sites around the globe.
In recent years, widespread reports of pilgrims witnessing The Miracle of the Sun have increased. For instance, it happened before a crowd of 100,000 in Puerto Rico on April 23, 1991, which was the thirty-eighth anniversary of the apparitions there, and it happened again in the Philippines on March 5, 1993, in front of a crowd of 300,000. Similar events have been recorded at such apparition sites as Medjugorje, Bosnia; Denver, Colorado; Lubbock, Texas; and Conyers, Georgia.

191230 Tbilisi City Tour
With its dramatic valley setting, picturesque Old Town, eclectic architecture and superb eating and drinking opportunities, Tbilisi is the vibrant, beating heart of Georgia and home to more than one in three of its citizens. Add to that the pull of the city's hipster culture, its techno scene and general air of cool, and Tbilisi is confidently sealing its reputation as the South Caucasus' most cosmopolitan city.
The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, commonly known as Sameba, is the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church located in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Constructed between 1995 and 2004, it is the third-tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in the world and one of the largest religious buildings in the world by total area.
Old Tbilisi was an administrative district (raioni) in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia, from 2007 to 2013. Although the term Old Tbilisi has long been used to denote a historical part of the city, it was only in 2007 that it became a distinct administrative entity to incorporate several historical neighbourhoods formerly included in the districts of Mtatsminda-Krtsanisi, Isani-Samgori, and Didube-Chughureti.
The Bridge of Peace is a bow-shaped pedestrian bridge, a steel and glass construction illuminated with numerous LEDs, over the Kura River in downtown Tbilisi, capital of Georgia.
The bridge which stretches 150 metres (490 ft) over the Kura River was ordered by the City Hall of Tbilisi to create a contemporary design feature connecting Old Tbilisi with the new district.
Narikala Fortress, also called the Mother Fortress of Tbilisi, Narikala is an ancient symbol of Tbilisi’s defence. The fortress was established in the 4th century, around the period when the city itself was founded. It was then known as Shuris-tsikhe (Invidious Fort). The name Narikala is said to derive from a Persian word for citadel, but another theory says was the name that Mongols used, meaning “little fortress”.
Abanotubani is the ancient district of Tbilisi, Georgia, known for its sulphuric baths.
Besides being incredibly relaxing and making you feel toasty on a cold day, sulphur baths are also believed to treat skin problems such as eczema and dry scalp.
There are around 10 bathhouses in the Abanotubani area. The Tbilisi bathhouses all have private rooms of varying standards, sizes and prices.
Mtatsminda Park is a famous landscaped park located at the top of Mount Mtatsminda overlooking the Georgian capital Tbilisi. The park has carousels, water slides, a roller-coaster, funicular, and a big Ferris Wheel at the edge of the mountain, offering a splendid view over the city.
Tbilisi Funicular is a ropeway railway connecting Chonkadze street and Mtatsminda Park. The length of the funicular road is 501 m, the angle of the tunnel is 28-33°, and the distance between the stations is 0,98 m. The upper station is at 727 m above sea level and the lower station is at 460 m above sea level.
Freedom Square, formerly known as Erivansky or Paskevich-Erivansky Square under Imperial Russia and Beria Squareand Lenin Square while part of the Soviet Union, is located in the center of Tbilisi at the eastern end of Rustaveli Avenue.
The Tbilisi Metro is a rapid transit system in Tbilisi, Georgia. Opened on 11 January 1966, it was the fourth metro system in the former Soviet Union. Like other ex-Soviet metros, most of the stations are very deep and vividly decorated. The Tbilisi Metro comprises two lines, 27.3 kilometres (17.0 mi) in total length, serving 23 stations.
The Rustaveli station has the longest escalator in the metro system.
Rustaveli Avenue, formerly known as Golovin Street, is the central avenue in Tbilisi named after the medieval Georgian poet, Shota Rustaveli.
The avenue starts at Freedom Square and extends for about 1.5 km in length, before it turns into an extension of Kostava Street. Rustaveli is often considered the main thoroughfare of Tbilisi due to a large number of governmental, public, cultural, and business buildings that are located along or near the avenue.
Agmashenebeli Avenue is one of the main avenues in the historical part of Tbilisi, known for its 19th-century classical architecture. The avenue is located on the left bank of the Kura River and runs from Saarbrücken Square to Giorgi Tsabadze street.
Agmashenebeli Avenue is one of the longest and most beautiful streets of the city. Here you can find gorgeous historic buildings, painted entryways and distinctive architectural ornaments.

We are suffering every day, every hour, every minute of this aggression, but I will be the first one to say even if we are suffering, there is no way we can compromise with these kinds of things, unless they leave. They should leave unconditionally and there should be genuine international process after that.
12. Wide of congregation inside cathedral
STORYLINE:
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili accused Russian troops on Monday of widening their zone of occupation.
Russia's military held onto crucial positions across Georgia despite announcing the start of a promised pullout after a brief war with the ex-Soviet republic at the heart of growing tension between Moscow and the West.
Russian troops and tanks have controlled a wide swath of Georgia for days, including the country's main east-west highway where the strategic
central city of Gori sits.
The Russian presence essentially cuts the small Caucasus Mountain nation in half and threatens pro-Western Saakashvili's efforts to keep it from falling apart after the war bolstered the chances of South Ossetia and another Russian-backed separatist region, Abkhazia, of remaining free of Georgian rule.
Speaking after attending mass at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Georgian capital Tbilisi on Monday night, Saakashvili accused Russia of dropping bombs in our natural parks and they have mined several administrative buildings and as far as I know they have blown up some of them.
He also accused Russian troops of taking control of the town of Akhalgori. The town and district are located in eastern South Ossetia, some 60 kilometres (37 miles) from Tbilisi.
They have taken over the town of Akhalgori which has never been under the control of Ossetian separatist in the past, Saakashvili said.
He added Russian troops should leave unconditionally and there should be genuine international process after that.
The movements of Russian tanks and troops also seemed to taunt Georgia and its Western backers.
Soldiers and vehicles roamed freely around Gori and made forays toward the capital, Tbilisi.
In the west, Russian forces continued to occupy a military base in Senaki and Georgian authorities said the Russians set off resounding explosions that blew up the runway there.
On the ground, there were few signs of a withdrawal, raising questions about whether Russia was fulfilling its side of the cease-fire intended to end the short but intense war that has stoked tension between a resurgent Russia and the West.

Short visit of Tbilisi (Géorgie/Georgia)
Tbilisi is the capital and the largest city of the Republic of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Mtkvari (Kura) River. From an early Georgian form Tpilisi derived both Armenian Teplis and Greek Tiflis, and the latter form was borrowed by Russian, so that until 1936 its official name in Russian was Тифлис (Tiflis) and until recently it was frequently referred to as Tiflis by non-Georgians.[1] The city covers an area of 726 km² (280.3 square miles) and has 1,093,000 inhabitants.
Founded in the 5th century AD by Vakhtang Gorgasali, the Georgian King of Kartli (Iberia), and made into a capital in the 6th century, Tbilisi is a significant industrial, social, and cultural center. The city is also emerging as an important transit route for global energy and trade projects. Located strategically at the crossroads between Europe and Asia and lying along the historic Silk Road routes, Tbilisi has often been the point of contention between various rivaling powers and empires. The history of the city can be seen by its architecture, where the Haussmannized Rustaveli avenue and downtown are blended with the narrower streets of the medieval Narikala district.
The demographics of the city is diverse and historically it has been home to peoples from different cultures, religions and ethnicities. Despite being overwhelmingly Orthodox Christian, Tbilisi is one of the few places in the world where a synagogue and a mosque are located next to each other, in the ancient Bath district several hundred meters from the Metekhi Church. In recent times, Tbilisi has become known for the peaceful Rose Revolution, which took place around Freedom Square and nearby locations after the contested parliamentary elections of 2003 led to the resignation of the Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze.
Tbilisi has one international airport. Notable tourist destinations include Tbilisi Sameba Cathedral, Freedom Square, Sioni Cathedral, Metekhi, Narikala, Parliament of Georgia, Rustaveli Avenue, Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre, Anchiskhati Basilica, Mtatsminda (Holy Mountain), Kashveti Church along with the National and Historic Museums of Georgia and numbers of art galleries. Tbilisi is the home of famous artists. The city life was immortalized in their art by Niko Pirosmani and Lado Gudiashvili.

SUMMARY
=======
The Kingdom of Georgia (Georgian: საქართველოს სამეფო), also known as the Georgian Empire, was a medieval Eurasian monarchy which emerged circa 1008 AD. It reached its Golden Age of political and economic strength during the reign of King David IV and Queen Tamar the Great from 11th to 13th centuries. Georgia became one of the pre-eminent nations of the Christian East, her pan-Caucasian empire stretching, at its largest extent, from Eastern Europe and the North Caucasus to the northern portion of Iran and Anatolia, while also maintaining religious possessions abroad, such as the Monastery of the Cross in Jerusalem and the Monastery of Iviron in Greece. It was the principal historical precursor of present-day Georgia.
Lasting for several centuries, the kingdom fell to the Mongol invasions in the 13th century, but managed to re-assert sovereignty by the 1340s. The following decades were marked by Black Death, as well as numerous invasions under the leadership of Timur, who devastated the country's economy, population, and urban centers. The Kingdom's geopolitical situation further worsened after the fall of the Byzantine and then Empire of Trebizond. As a result of these processes, by the end of the 15th century Georgia turned into a fractured entity. Renewed incursions by Timur from 1386, and the later invasions by the Kara Koyunlu and Ak Koyunlu led to the final collapse of the kingdom into anarchy by 1466 and the mutual recognition of its constituent kingdoms of Kartli, Kakheti and Imereti as independent states between 1490 and 1493 – each led by a rival branch of the Bagrationi dynasty, and into five semi-independent principalities – Odishi, Guria, Abkhazia, Svaneti, and Samtskhe – dominated by their own feudal clans.

Pitch Livre II - Tome 1 :
