Toul Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church in Toul, Lorraine, France. It is a classic example of Gothic architecture. The cathedral was formerly the seat of the Diocese of Toul. Established in 365, it was annexed in 1824 to the Diocese of Nancy, which in 1777 had been formed from the Diocese of Toul. Since 1824, the diocese has been known as the Diocese of Nancy-Toul, with one of the biggest cloisters in France.

VERDUN CATHEDRAL which is Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Verdun in French is a Roman Catholic church located in the town of Verdun, Lorraine, France. The cathedral is the seat of the Bishops of Verdun.It was declared a monument historique on 30 October 1906 and the cloister on 13 July 1907.
In the 14th century, the cathedral was refurbished in the Renaissance style; the flat wooden ceiling was replaced by a vaulted one, and the interior was decorated with frescos. Gothic side-chapels were added to either side of the lower end of the nave; the last side-chapel, dedicated to the Assumption, was built between 1522 and 1530.

Verdun (sur Meuse) is a city in the Meuse department in Lorraine in north-eastern France.Verdun was the site of a major battle of the First World War.
Its landmarks are:
The Châtel Gate is the only remaining part of the medieval city walls. It leads onto La Roche Square.
The Citadelle which was built in the 17th Century. It is still in military hands but the underlying tunnels can still be visited.
The Notre-Dame de Verdun Cathedral that was consecrated in 1147, but was built on the site of an earlier church. The 12th Century Lion Door on the north side has a lavishly decorated tympanum. The whole building was heavily restored in the 18th Century.
The Episcopal Palace which was built in the 18th Century by Robert de Cotte. Part of the building is occupied by the World Peace Centre.
The Princerie Museum is located in the former residence of the princes of Verdun. It contains historic works of art from the region. Alas the museum was closed on the day that we visited Verdun.
