Broome families greet Tony Burke
Tony Burke the minister for the environment while in Broome visited James Price Point or Walmadan as it is known locally, to meet elders and discuss the affect this proposed gas plant will have on their community and environment. There he was shown how culturally rich and bio-diverse this land really is and the destructive impact woodside have already had on such a sacred place. From there he was then greeted by a passionate community compelled to appeal for the minister not to approve the worlds largest LNG refinery at James Price Point. Strong outstanding members of the community and traditional owners held an audience with the minister to discuss their concerns for their health, lifestyle and their community. Teresa Roe told about days gone by and her strength then and her kindness and generosity towards all now. That land has shaped who all these people are. Elsa voiced her concerns for the dinosaur trackway and woodsides destructive techniques including at sea with migrating whales. Although the ministers tongue was tied on a few issues he left an excited buzz in his wake over the deadline for heritage listing of the dinosaur trackway on August 31st and hundreds of people hanging on to the hope that there still is a chance this will come to and end....

An immersion is a short experience (usually two - three weeks) with a small team visiting local church communities in Remote Indigenous Australia or in a variety of Developing Countries around the world to experience life, faith and justice from a new perspective and to then return inspired to live your own sense of catholic mission back in Australia.
Locations Include:
• Broome, Darwin and Alice Springs
• Timor-Leste, Cambodia, Fiji, Kiribati, PNG, Philippines, India, Mongolia, Myanmar, Zambia and Ethiopia.
We can include opportunities for service such as teaching English or Computer Skills as guided by local communities.
We offer trips for:
immersion• School groups (usually Year 11 students during the school holidays)
• Alternate schoolies (for Year 12's after the have finished their final exams) and
• Adult groups -- such as Catholic parishes, teachers, universities, social justice groups or health care groups.
We offer preparation and follow up workshops as well as experienced facilitators to lead the trip as mission educators.
We can tailor the experience to each group in terms of the location, date and itinerary.
We are the international mission aid agency of the Catholic Church in Australia.
We handle all of the travel logistics and planning while still empowering each group to share in the vision for the trip.

Catholic Education Office of WA
The Catholic Education system in Western Australia provides a dynamic, student centred approach to education for more than 72,000 young people in 158 schools and colleges across the state.
With a focus on the development of the whole person - intellectual, spiritual, social, physical and emotional development - Catholic Education is the state's second largest education sector, educating some 18% of all school-aged children in Western Australia.
Unlike any other state in Australia, Catholic schools in Western Australia are united as a system, with the four dioceses -- Perth, Bunbury, Geraldton and Broome -- all collaborating to provide Quality Catholic Schooling across the state.
Aj shows you where Balgo is and about the dream time story of the Kingfisher Luurnpa
Balgo Hills region of Balgo Hills Western Australia
It's a story of Luurnpa, Kingfisher , who saves the Kukatja people from dying of thirst by showing them his magic rock hole full of water.
They found the site selected by the Bishop unsuitable and ended up settling on a private run by mistake. In 1965 the mission was relocated to Balgo Hills, now Wirrimanu.
