Akita: Our Lady Speaks from Japan - Pilgrim Reflections with Fr. Elias M. Mills, FI
On site in Japan, Fr. Elias offers several spontaneous reflections on the meaning of the Akita phenomenon and the Christian experience in Japan. Akita is the, site of the 1973 mystical manifestations experienced by Sr. Agnes Sasagawa of the Handmaids of the Eucharist. The mystical phenomena at Akita were authenticated by the local bishop.
Footage for the video was recorded on location at several of the sites on the two-week itinerary of Fr. Elias' April 2019 pilgrimage to Christian Japan.
From Wikipedia: The messages emphasize prayer (especially recitation of the Holy Rosary) and penance in combination with cryptic visions prophesying sacerdotal persecution and heresy within the Catholic Church.
The apparitions were unusual in that the weeping statue of the Virgin Mary was broadcast on Japanese national television, and gained further notice with the sudden healing of hearing impairment experienced by Sasagawa after the apparitions.[3] The image also became affiliated with The Lady of All Nations movement, with which the message shares some similarities.
The local ordinary of the convent, John Shojiro Ito, Bishop of Niigata (r. 1962–1985),[4] recognized the supernatural character of a series of mysterious events concerning the statue of the Holy Mother Mary and authorized the veneration of the Holy Mother of Akita, within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Niigata in a 1984 pastoral letter.

Lighthouse Baptist Church in Japan, fund raising for the church building in 2018
We planted the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Niigata-city in Japan on January 3, 2016. Since then, we've been worshiping every Sunday, utilizing a small ramen restaurant as our church building and holding bible study and choir rehearsal at public venues.
With God's blessing, our church has been growing little by little. What's more, since we first began, we have baptized 10 new-born Christians. Currently, our church has 20 members including those who live long distance in adjacent towns. Through concerts, Easter-celebrations, Pentecostal Sunday, Christmas, luncheons and some events at our church, we have grown to be publicly recognized as the christian church in our hometown.
2018 marks our third year in public ministry. It was only three years ago when we were given the vision of raising the banner for the Lord in our town in Japan. Now, we've started fund-raising for our first church building.
Our goal is 5,000,000 JPY (46,000 USD). We need your prayer and support. Renting a building for our church through your donations will help us further our mission to lead the world to worship God through SERVING, LOVING, EVANGELIZING and DISCIPLESHIP.

Last May 11, 2019 Catholic Churches in Niigata; Naoetsu, Itoigawa, Nagaoka and Niigata Cathedral come together for the pilgrimage in Kirishitan Tom (キリシタン稼) in Sado Island, Niigata. Where we experience walking in wilderness experiencing tiredness and exposing under the heat of sun as we walk through the place where all of parishioner of churches gathered to attend the Mass. This experience taught us the hardships that strengthens our faith in God. That despite hardships in journey of our lives there are people will certainly help you and strengthens more your faith.

Miyazawa Sensei (Pastor) gave a children's message to two of our younger people in church on Sunday. May this message bring hope and love to you and your family. Our church is Nozomi Lutheran Church in Niigata, Japan. Nozomi means Hope in Japanese.

하코다테산 쪽으로 넓게 펼쳐져 있는 언덕지역인 모토마치. 언덕 위 고풍스러운 건물은 구하코다테 공회당. 하코다테를 대표하는 서양식 건물로 화려함을 자랑한다. 2층 발코니에 올라 바깥을 바라보니 항구를 낀 하코다테 전경이 시원하게 펼쳐진다. 공회당 근처에는 개성있는 교회 건물들이 모여 있다. 일본 성공회의 시작과 함께 한성 요한 교회. 중세 유럽의 교회양식으로 지어졌다. 가톨릭 모토마치 교회는 스테인드 글라스가 아름다운 고딕양식의 건물이다. 하리스토스 정교회는 원래 러시아 영사관의 부속성당으로 세워졌는데, 삼각 지붕과 세개의 작은 돔이 비잔틴 양식을 보여준다. 서구식 건물들이 많은 이유는 하코다테가 일본에서 가장 먼저 개항한 무역항 중 하나이기 때문이다.
