Aramaic Project-137. Syriac chants during a wedding at Dallas, USA: Denny & Neena
Jesus and the Americas: A Connection through the Aramaic Language and Music.
Note:
This video is yet another example of how young Syro Malabar Catholics, who are born and raised in the USA, are growing comfortable with the sound, melodies, and sentiments of the Syriac chants of the Syro Malabar Church. Denny and Neena took a bold step to incorporate three Syriac chants into their wedding ceremony. The choir members, under the leadership of Jones Kalarickal, had already mastered these songs. The choir also did something innovative. They sang the Holy Holy Holy in Syriac. The celebrant sang his part in Malayalam. This is the first time we hear a bilingual rendering of this hymn. The transition from Malayalam to Syriac sounded smooth. Such bold experiments have far-reaching effects in reclaiming the Syriac heritage. Earlier in July 2018, St. Thomas the Apostle Syro Malabar Forane Catholic Church in Dallas made history by organizing the first-ever solemn Qurbana in Syriac in North America (see Aramaic Project-100. The singers received training from Fr. Varghese (Saji) Mattathil , who is an expert in Syriac liturgical music (see Aramaic Project-71 Gradually, the Syro Malabar congregations in the Chicago-Dallas areas are getting used to the sounds and melodies in Syriac. We are grateful to Tensen Kalarickal and his team for taking the initiative.

SUBSCRIBE: - Let's look at the absolutely remarkable wooden statue of St Mary MacKillop (the only Catholic Saint from Australia). This statue is located in the first Catholic Cathedral in the center of Brisbane, we will look at the statue and analyze its appearance and meaning. Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com. Mary Helen MacKillop RSJ (15 January 1842 – 8 August 1909), now formally known as St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, was an Australian nun who has been declared a saint by the Catholic Church. Of Scottish descent, she was born in Melbourne, but was best known for her activities in South Australia.
Australia is a country and continent surrounded by the Indian and Pacific oceans. Its major cities – Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide – are coastal. Its capital, Canberra, is inland. The country is known for its Sydney Opera House, the Great Barrier Reef, a vast interior desert wilderness called the Outback, and unique animal species like kangaroos and duck-billed platypuses.
