Family Feud Over the Fate of From Historic Caves

A family feuds over revenue from historic caves.

The family that owns Luray Caverns in Virginia, has disputed the distribution of profits of their approximately 20 million dollar empire.



They argued over the financial aspects of the business by facing off in the United States District Court in Harrisonburg.



The three youngest siblings sued two of their older sisters, claiming they violated provisions in the family trusts and should not inherit any shares of the company.


The case was dismissed by the Judge Michael Urbanski who said: This case is simply one skirmish in the complicated and contentious battle that has been waged between the descendants of Colonel Northcott over the distribution of stock and control of Luray Caverns, it is helpful to place the current litigation in its historic context.



Luray Caverns in Virginia sees up to 35 hundred tourists a day that take a one hour tour costing 24 dollars for an adult.



It has been open for over 130 years and is the number three top visited cave in The United States after Mammoth Cave in Kentucky and Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico.



Luray Caverns Resort has expanded over the years to include two motels, two museums, a golf course and a garden maze.

James Cave - Radford Virginia - Caving

John Fox of Kiwanis Club of Radford takes Luis Garcia and children into James Cave in Radford Virginia. It's a 45 minute cave expedition. Very primitive and lots of crawling. You enter on one end and come out of the other. Wear gloves and be ready to get dirty.

Trump National Golf Club in Virginia 4K Drone Video

It’s hard to find a spot around DC to fly my Phantom 4. Upper Potomac Park near the Trump National Golf Club is a good spot according to drone maps but I experienced many planes flying as low as 500 feet and couldn’t fly too long. I kept my DJI drone pretty low over the tree line and was able to take some videos of the Golf Course. Unfortunately, Trump’s golf course wasn’t in good shape as I would like due to heavy rains a week before.

Cockpit view of Runway 22 Landing at W45, Luray Caverns Airport in Virginia

This is a little video of coming in for a landing at Luray Caverns airport in VA. The weather conditions were nice. I was in the right seat for this one and my friend William was flying. We passed over the airport to determine the runway. There was no one in the air today. We had the whole place to ourselves.

There's nothing particularly interesting about this video. It just shows all the terrain around. Interestingly. There was a light dusting of snow every we went except this valley. It looks like spring there even though it's the end of January.

New River Cave with South Carolina Interstate Grotto (SCIG) along with members of Flittermouse Grotto and VPI Cave Club. This is a wild cave exploration in Virginia. If you would like to learn more about caving or cave with local group of people please look up a local grotto that is registered with the National Speleological Society (NSS).

Dragon Breath Grotto at Sharps Cave, West Virginia

It was decided that we needed to do something other than Pennsylvania Caves. Katrina planned, organized and carried out this trip from start to finish. We did get underground in what we consider to be a massive cave. Everybody went in the cave, yes and came out again. Everybody had an awesome time. Everybody wants to do this again next year.
