Caves of Drach, Porto Cristo, Mallorca, Spain GoPro 1080p
Review of the Caves of Drach (Cuevas del Drach) excursion. The Caves of Drach are four great caves that are located on the island of Majorca, extending to a depth of 25 m and reaching approximately 4 km in length. They were already known during the middle ages and were explored in 1880 by M. F. Will and in 1896 by E.A. Martel, who discovered the cave containing the lake that now bears his name. As part of the experience there is a classical concert at 'Lake Martel' since 1935 to emphasis the epitome of the caves ambiance. The four caves (called Black Cave, White Cave, Cave of Luis Salvador, and Cave of the French) are all connected; Porto Cristo, Mallorca, Spain 2019. Shots were taken with GoPro Hero 7 Black 2.7K downsized to 1080p HD.

Cuevas del Drach - Porto Cristo Spain - Tourist Information Video Umberto Faraglia
The Caves of Drach, modern Catalan spelling: Coves del Drac, are four great caves that are located in the island of Majorca, Balearic Islands, Spain. They are in the municipality of Manacor, near the locality of Porto Cristo. They were first mentioned in a letter 1338. The caves extend to a depth of 25 m, reaching 2.4 km in length. The four caves, called Black Cave, White Cave, Cave of Luis Salvador, and Cave of the French, are connected to each other.
The caves have formed by water being forced through the entrance from the Mediterranean Sea, and some researchers think the formation may date back to Miocene. There is an underground lake situated in the caves called Martel Lake, which is about 115 m in length and 30 m in width, and its depth varies between four and twelve meters. It is named after the French explorer and scientist Édouard-Alfred Martel, who is considered the founding father of speleology (the study of caves). He was invited to explore the cave 1896. A German cave explorer, M.F. Will, had mapped the White and Black cave in 1880. Martel found two more caves, as well as the underground lake.[
The caves are open to the public and one of the main attractions on Mallorca. The visit ends with a short classical concert performed by four musicians on a boat.

Hi guys.....
This was a beautiful place to visit. I like caves, they are magical places which are forming themselves underneath us without anyone knowing they are there. There was a lot of people on the tour but at the same time, we had enough space to stop and take a picture of what we wanted. Next time you are on vacation in Mallorca, you have to visit this cave. You will find it on the east side of the island. We took a bus from capital Palma de Mallorca and it took us one hour and a half to get there.
Here is some info about the cave from their website.
The Cuevas del Drach were already known during the Middle Ages and were explored in 1880 by M. F. Will and in 1896 by E.A. Martel, who discovered the cave containing the lake that bears his name.
Between 1922 and 1935 the cave was conditioned to be visited by opening a new entrance, building paths, stairs, etc. and, above all, by installing electric lighting designed by the engineer, Mr. Buigas.
The tour takes about an hour, the length being about 1,200 meters, and includes a classical music concert and a boat trip across Lake Martel. The temperature inside is about 21°C and the humidity 80%.

Caves of Drach Walkthrough Majorca GoPro
This is a walkthrough of the Caves of Drach filmed on a GoPro Hero 4 located in Porto Cristo Majorca 2015.
This is a cave, so no natural light and flash filming or photography is banned.
I do not personally think its worth visiting again so watch this and make up your mind before paying!
The entrance fee is 15euro, you have to select a time slot when you arrive and then sit and wait. There is nothing else to do other than drink or eat in a tiny cafe. There is no other sight seeing or attractions. We have a nearly two hour wait and it was pouring down so everyone was sat waiting under a canopy for hours before we finally entered.
Tour ---
You basically enter the cave and follow a guided path throughout the cave down to a random seating area where two boats go passed you and one of them plays music. You then have two choices, scramble like mad to board one of the rowing boats and take a two minutes sail to the exit or walk a path at the side to the exit of the cave. When you walk out you appear back at the main entrance. It would of be much better if you had a tour guide who explained this history etc of the cave but nothing, no history or information.
They must make a fortune as you see on the video there was hundreds queuing for the 2pm time slot which we was on, and they run on the hour throughout the day. It would be nice if out of the revenue they provided a guide or some activities to do whilst waiting.
You then all scramble to get the bus back to your resort, we got lucky and the coach parked right outside of us but it left at least a hundred behind. There is only a couple of taxis so I recommend you either risk it and catch the coach or drive. On a plus point we got the coach from Sa Coma and it only cost 3euros each way. The taxi was quoted 17euro each way.
Again sorry for the low light, this was filmed at 24fps.
Hope you enjoy it and look forward to any questions.. :-)
