Cavill Avenue is a street and a pedestrian mall in Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It is in the heart of the Surfers Paradise shopping and entertainment district. It was named in honour of the man credited as the founder of Surfers Paradise, James Cavill, known as Jim Cavill.
Named after Jim Cavill, the original hotellier who effectively gave birth to Surfers Paradise tourism, Cavill Avenue, and Cavill Mall are the focal point of the Gold Coast.
Lined with shops, nightclubs, bars, and fast food outlets, the street has recently undergone some landscaping, stretching from the famous 'Surfers Paradise' sign next to the beach, down through an array of restaurants, shops and nightclubs.
There's lots of surf art and regular live music performances from buskers lining the street at night.
The arcades and streets nearby are the real heart of Surfers Paradise, with fantastic (cheap) Asian food, surfboard shops, tattoo parlours, T-Shirt emporiums and secret nightclub doors.

Hi travellers,
As part of our trip to the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia we walked through Cavill Mall. It's a tourist strip of pedestrian shopping right in the centre of Surfer's Paradise.
We did a spot of shopping and Ripley's believe it or not museum is located there. We did have a hire car and found parking on a nearby street. However, there are public transport options to visit as well. The beach there is picturesque and when its warm is a lovely swim too.

Night tour - Surfers Paradise is a suburb on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
Colloquially known as 'Surfers', the suburb has many high-rise apartment buildings and a wide surf beach. The feature of the central business district is Cavill Mall, which runs through the shopping precinct. Cavill Avenue, named after Jim Cavill, an early hotel owner, is one of the busiest shopping strips in Queensland, and the centre of activity for night life. Surfers Paradise's high-rise buildings are the best known feature of the Gold Coast's skyline; Burleigh and Coolangatta also have skyscrapers, though shorter and fewer.

Stage One — Griffith University to Broadbeach
Stage One of the project is the priority route from Griffith University (Parklands Drive, Southport) to Broadbeach. This 13 kilometre dedicated light rail corridor will service the new Gold Coast University Hospital, Griffith University, Southport medical precinct and the fast growing commercial, retail and recreational centres of Southport, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. There are 16 stations planned for the Stage One corridor.
The Stage One corridor is well suited to accommodating dedicated east - west bus connections with high-quality interchanges planned for Southport and Broadbeach.
Delivery of Stage One is scheduled for 2014.

The previous Gold Coast video was solely a beach and waterfront run. This video includes a beach run component where we head north to Narrowneck Beach. On the return leg we head along the streets throughout the heart of Surfers Paradise including Cavill Avenue Mall.
