MOALBOAL Sardines - SCUBA or SNORKEL? Cebu, Philippines (WeWillNomad)
Moalboal is known for its Sardines - enormous schools of sardines that are pretty much always there. They hang out around Panagsama Beach area, close to where the yellow pier juts out into the water. Although you can see the sardines at any time of the day, try to go early morning, just after sunrise if you want to beat most people to the water. All you need is snorkelling gear (snorkel, mask and preferably fins) which you can rent from the nearby shops which open at 6 am. It doesn’t matter what we say, nothing will prepare you for the sheer number of sardines that you will see! Lisa was even lucky enough to see a huge turtle swim by. This was by far one of the most fun shallow-water activities that we have done!
We did both a morning snorkel as well as a 'sardine run' scuba dive during the afternoon as we were told that the experience is different and well worth it. In this video, we show both activities and you can make up your own mind as to which was best!

FIRST TIME IN CEBU PART 2 - DIVING IN MOALBOAL
A quick half day dive with Cebu Dive Centre in Moalboal. We didn't have the best visibility as it was the off season but it was nonetheless an amazing time.
Shot on a GoPro Hero 5 and SJ6 Legend.
Some clips edited using the Dive+ app:
This app is amazing for colour correcting underwater photos and videos, and it is free! Highly recommend.

Yayyyyy conquered one of my fears today, scuba diving! I was always afraid of being under water that deep with an oxygen tube but not anymore, well it took me 2 days to clean my goggles but I made it haha and after seeing the beautiful world under the water, my fear disappeared immediately. We went on a discovery tour at Sampaguita Resort with Mario from Gangga Divers! I loved it and I hope you too:)

Moalboal Sardine Run
Video courtesy of Kasai Village |
A short video showing the majestic schools of sardines off Moalboal doing their dance.
People visit Moalboal especially to see the sardines and it is easy to see why. Descending in to the cloud of fish, getting lost in sardines, they dance backwards and forwards glittering in the water column. It is a spectacular site.
