Cefn Coed remembered
The closure of much of Cefn Coed hospital in Swansea marks the end of an era. The architecture of the building and history held within are from a time long gone. This film records some of the last moments of the old asylum system of psychiatric care through images and the memories of hospital staff.
I spent almost a year making this film, visiting the hospital and exploring the closed off sections. I was allowed to get to the top of the water tower several times and given permission to fly a drone with Andy over the hospital and it's grounds. I also had access to oral histories being recorded with members of staff past and present and was lucky enough to attend a few of the interviews at the hospital too. The film has been shown on a loop at Swansea museum for the past 6 months as part of the Cefn Coed Remembered exhibition.

Crynant RFC 'A' v The Gradon in The Dulais Valley Sunday League on the 12th of May 2013.
With the game at 4 - 4 Captain Billy Brennan took responsibility for the last game against Alun Williams. Unfortunately the club's self appointed anthem creator (aka Jack Hawkes) decided that some significant vocal support was needed to try and help Captain Bill along!

Steampunk Village Chatham Dockyard 2019
Chatham Dockyard host the Festival of Steam 21st April 2019. One of the attractions is the Steampunk Village. Steampunk combines the look of the Victorian age with the future.
Here you will find people let their creative sides exude all sorts of fun ideas. It is a world where anything goes. Fairies abound, valves, sparks and bulbs illuminate, and even the odd Pirate or two appears.
Many thanks to all that appeared in this video.

Papplewick Pumping Station 1940's Weekend
The 1940s weekend at Papplewick Pumping Station October 2016. I love these nostalgic 1940s weekends, they give everyday people an opportunity to walk in the footsteps of people from the past, and engage their minds with those who have walked before us.
Historians don’t like nostalgia, but it’s just a way of emphasizing the differences between themselves and others. I personally love it. With nostalgia, people can ‘step in to, and back out of’ the past in safety. Of course, when people do this it can be argued that they are often picking out the best parts of the past, so as quite often happens, there is a degree of distortion that takes place. But as their interest grows, there is a subsequent growth in accuracy as their historical culture develops and grows with it.
For example, a lots of heritage location now hold nostalgic events throughout the year. The 1940’s wartime weekends are tremendously popular, because not only does the heritage location dress it to look as they it in the 1940’s, they also invite the public to participate in this nostalgic event by encouraging them to dress up and role play (cosplay) the parts too.
By allowing people to step into the role, and immerse themselves in the experience, they feel the past and form associations with it, strengthening their desire for more history.
When you walk in the footsteps of someone form the past, you learn about their lives in a way that no book or film or historic document could ever come close to.

Ked Does Steampunk
We sent new guy Ked to the steampunk festival in downtown Troy. What’s steampunk? It’s a genre of science fiction that has a historical setting and typically features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology.
The city of Troy, NY, where 2BD resides, beholds intense historical architecture while beholding a thriving technological future which is the perfect storm for weirdness like this.
