Scenic Ceilidh Trail on Cape Breton Island: Dunvegan, Inverness
Trunk Route 19 stretches along the western coast of Cape Breton Island, providing some excellent scenery. This portion of the road is known as the Ceilidh Trail, and this video shows you the drive from Dunvegan, through Inverness, to Mabou.
MyDrivelapse.com and Takemytrip.com provide driving videos and stories to help you plan your trip. Check out hundreds of videos on my YouTube channel. Subscribe if you like it! Dozens of new videos are on the way in the coming weeks.
I made this trip in early October, 2016. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera, mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras - one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).

Cabot Trail: Pleasant Bay to Ingonish, Cape Breton Island
Enjoy the scenic drive along the northern and eastern sides of the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. This drive begins at my B&B in Pleasant Bay, and heads east, then south along the Cabot Trail, ending at the Franey Trail hiking trailhead. It's a great hike, I highly recommend it.

The Cabot Trail (1950s)
Northern Cape Breton is the Mecca of the tourist, the holiday seeker, the sportsman, and the lover of Nature. Access to this natural playground is afforded by the Cabot Trail, winding 180 miles northward in a circular route from Baddeck. More than four centuries after John Cabot first sighted the Island of Cape Breton, the motor trail was opened which now bears his name. Frowning cliff and smiling valley - placid lake and frantic mountain stream - Canada's newest National Park presents an everchanging panorama in a matchless blending of mountain, sea, and sky.

First year owning a drone on Cape Breton Island - 2019
One year with a drone on Cape Breton Island!
Winter wonderland days melted into the freshness of a new spring, to a sunny summer spent between the mountains and on the water, and a crisp fall filled with colorful leaves as far as the eye can see…
Experiencing each unique season will be something we never get tired of.
We bought our drone in November of 2018 and had no sweet clue how to fly it. With lots of worrying and pure trust that this little piece of expensive equipment would be okay, it has allowed us to adventure from a whole new perspective. To have a birds eye view on some of the most beautiful landscapes is something we are continuously thankful for. When we say Cape Breton Island is not a seasonal Island, now we can prove it.
Happy December everyone and here’s to another year of beauty through the seasons!
All shots taken in the park was with a permit and park representative with us.

Cheticamp: A Cape Breton Coastal Community's Survival (Documentary)
Cheticamp, like many small rural communities around the world is experiencing changes as youth move to larger urban areas seeking employment. The decline in population is having a rippling effect on the economy and residents need to consider new forms of economic development in order for the community to sustain itself. At the same time a changing climate is impact how local resources can be used currently and into the future.
This documentary examines life in Cheticamp, told through the stories of local people. We reflect on what Cheticamp was like in the past, the changes that have occurred over the past 60 years, and end with some suggestions of how Cheticamp can continue to flourish into the future. This documentary hopes to enlighten viewers to the changes that are occurring in small rural communities across Canada, leaving them to consider how new ways of looking at problems can help with similar challenges elsewhere.
