Celtic Music Interpretive Centre
The Society's mission is to collect, preserve, and promote Cape Breton's traditional Celtic Music through Education, Research, and Performance. Because Cape Bretoners have traveled far and wide, the reaches of the Centre are far beyond the boundaries of a small island on the east coast of Canada.
The centre is located in Judique, only 20 minutes from the Canso Causeway as you travel north-west on Rt.19. Here is the oldest established community of Scottish ancestry on Cape Breton Island and the oldest Scottish Highland Catholic parish on the island. Take a 2 hour drive from Sydney or 1 hr 15 min from Baddeck to get here.
Celtic Music Interpretive Centre
The Celtic Music Interpretive Centre offers the perfect introduction to traditional Cape Breton music. Listen to our professional musicians explain our culture and play such tune types as marches, strathspeys, jigs and reels and watch them step-dance to the music! Tour the interactive exhibit room, which has interactive fiddle and stepdancing lessons.
Stay for lunch and enjoy our lunchtime ceilidhs! There is no admission to the ceilidhs and the kitchen is serving up Cape Breton favorites as well!
Drop in to discover Cape Breton celtic music, songs and culture during the Sunday Afternoon Ceilidhs or Wednesday Evening Ceilidhs featuring some of the island's finest musicians.
If you are looking for live music, The Celtic Music Centre offers live music seven days a week throughout the peak season!
The Centre also houses an extensive collection of music recordings, photographs, videos and correspondence. And before you leave, make sure you pick up some CD's of toe tapping music to listen to as you drive around the island.

Lunch Ceilidh at Celtic Music Interpretive Centre
We stopped at the Celtic Music Interpretive Centre in Judique for their famous lunch ceilidh. It did not disappoint! We had a front row table to enjoy the fantastic music as we dined on lobster. Attending a ceilidh was definitely on our must do list for our visit to Cape Breton.
