Centennial Pavilion in Monrovia, Liberia
Centennial Pavilion in Monrovia, Liberia
The Centennial Pavilion is a national monument in Monrovia, capital of the West African Republic of Liberia. It is located in the historic Old Town, in the block between Broad Street in the south, Randall Street in the north, Benson Street and Center Street. The burned-out high-rise ruin of the Edward J. Roye Building is just north of the building. The Memorial hosts political commemorative events every year on July 26, the Liberian State Holiday.
The monument was erected on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Liberia on 26 July 1947 and inaugurated by the then President, William S. Tubman.
The building, built in the form of a Hall of Fame , shows the larger-than-life, gilded statue of the first Liberian President, Joseph J. Roberts, at the ceremonial receipt of the Liberian flag on August 24, 1847 , on the prestigious, two-towered side of Randall Street two gilded virgins, the two ethnic groups of Liberia - on the left in the form of a nude girl the representative of the indigenous population and in front of her, in a simple dress, the representative of the American Liberians. Both refer to the President with a gesture of their arms. Inside the lavishly decorated hall is a banqueting hall for state receptions and political events. The columns were adorned with the portraits of all Liberian presidents.
On the west side, in front of the Centennial Pavilion, on a forecourt, is a prominent obelisk monument to the heroes of Liberian history. This place serves as a popular backdrop for wedding photos and similar events.

ELDERLY FEEDING 09 27 18
The Liberian First Lady, Clar Marie Weah, runs a monthly welfare program for the elderly. Held on the last Thursday of each month, the initiative provides food rations to persons aging 55 and above.
It was instituted in April 2018 and has delivered nearly ten thousand packaged food rations to the needy.
The program, which stems from Mrs. Weah’s passion for the less fortunate in society, is her initial way of loving and caring for our senior citizens.
As you watch in this video, some beneficiaries at the Thursday, September 27 distribution in Monrovia could not hold back their gratitude for Mrs. Weah. This was simply because they are already feeling loved by the First Lady.
