Econlockhatchee River East 2016
The river flows north from its source, Lake Conlin, through the Econlockhatchee River Swamp (see below) south of State Road 528. Near the City of Oviedo, the tributary Little Econlockhatchee River joins, and the river turns east as it flows through the Little Big Econ State Forest. The Econlockhatchee joins the St. Johns River near Puzzle Lake. The river's floodplain is forested for its entire length.
Florida's Wekiva River
There is a small river in Central Florida called the Wekiva River. It’s from a Creek word that means spring of water. This river is full of history and beauty and flows steady with fresh, clean, spring water - year round. An abundance of wildlife thrives here. Some are rare or endangered birds and animals. Alligators, panthers, and black bears can be seen along its banks. Huge large mouth bass have been caught here and occasionally a small stingray makes it all the way upstream from the Atlantic Ocean hundreds of miles away. Various hardwood trees tower overhead, casting shadows on the lily pads below. As a young boy I swam, canoed, camped, and fished this river… and I still do! Because of organizations like Friends of the Wekiva, ( this beautiful river is protected for future generations. If you’re looking for a place to set up a tent, a camping adventure for your family, a birthday, or a corporate team-building course, shoot me an email. If you’re looking to learn primitive survival skills such as: shelter-building, cordage making, fire-craft, orienteering and water sourcing, shoot me an email and we’ll talk about it! If you’re a seasoned survivalist or prepper looking to build or hone your skills, I’ve got just the thing for you! Come test your skills in Florida’s swamps, rivers, and forests.

An Alligator swimming about making fishing difficult on Lake Harney in Geneva, Florida
This cute little guy was messing with us all day. No top water fishing when these guys catch interest.
Eagle- Geneva, FL
An eagle crashing a buzzard party in our backyard, Geneva Florida. We smoked a chicken last weekend and threw the carcass out in the backyard, in front of the game cam. (The timestamp is wrong on the vid, should be March 17, 2013)
Econ River Run - Geneva, FL 7-26-15
Almost called it quits minutes after launching due to heavy rain storms, but we rode out the bad weather at a pavilion along the river and ended up having a perfect day afterwards . This is a video my phone put together from today's photos and videos , it's pretty cool like that.

in search of The Cypress Army
Come with me on a trip up the St. Johns river in hopes of photographing what I call the Cypress Army, a stand of 10,000 cypress knees. When viewed from ground level they resemble bacon and eggs...no not bacon and eggs, I mean they look like an army.
This also was the test flight of my homemade camera mount. Had a few problems but mostly it worked great.
The rains from 6 weeks ago flooded this area. Lake Harney's flood peaked a month ago but since the St. Johns is one of the laziest rivers in the world it's still flooded today. Look for the high water lines on some of the trees. Unfortunately, the Cypress Army is underwater.
This is a good look at unspoiled Florida.
Bigfoot Nature Trail Central Florida
The first cold front of the year has moved into Florida and I can now go into swamp area that have impossible to get too because of the bugs and extreme heat index
