Great Mosque Of Central Java Semarang In The Morning

The mosque complex covers 10 hectares (25 acres). There are three central buildings arranged in the shape of a U, with the domed mosque at the center; all buildings have pitched, tiled roofs, while the central mosque has four minarets. The central roof resembles the roof of a joglo, the traditional Javanese house, and symbolize the rising steps toward heaven or to gain God's blessing. The long buildings forming the arms of the U house a library and auditorium respectively;[2] the auditorium can hold up to 2,000 people.[1]

In the central courtyard are six large hydraulically operated umbrellas, inspired by the ones at Al-Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina, which are used to protect worshipers;[2] the six umbrellas represent the six tenets of iman.[3] More than 15,000 worshipers can fit in the 7,669-square-metre (82,550 sq ft) prayer area.[2][4] At the open end of the U is a series of Arabic-style arches, with Arabic calligraphs of 99 attributes of Allah, stood on 25 pillars, each representing one of the named prophets in Islam.[3] Beyond the arches is an inscription on a 3.2-metre (10 ft) tall, 7.8 ton stone from Mount Merapi, designed by Nyoman M. Alim.[1][3]

Nearby is the 99-metre (325 ft) tall Asmaul Husna Tower, designed to resemble the minaret of a mosque in Kudus; the height represents the 99 attributes of Allah.[5] Used for calling Muslims to prayer, the tower also houses a radio station for dakwah and museum at its base and restaurant and observation deck near its summit.[2][5] The upper levels are accessible by lift.[6] On premises there is also a 23-room hotel. Masjid Agung Jawa Tengah adalah masjid yang terletak di Semarang, provinsi Jawa Tengah, Indonesia.

Masjid ini mulai dibangun sejak tahun 2001 hingga selesai secara keseluruhan pada tahun 2006. Masjid ini berdiri di atas lahan 10 hektare. Masjid Agung diresmikan oleh Presiden Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono pada tanggal 14 November 2006. Masjid Agung Jawa Tengah (MAJT) merupakan masjid provinsi bagi provinsi Jawa Tengah.

A Tourist's Guide to Semarang, Java, Indonesia

Part of my series when I visit places in Indonesia.

This time, I fly from Jakarta to Semarang, a city on the coast of central Java. Not knowing what to expect, I am pleasantly surprised by how nice Semarang is.

I start off at Lawang Sewu, the old Dutch East India railway station, now known as the building of a thousand doors.


I then hop across the road to see Tuda Muda, a large stone monument that commemorates Semarang's fight against the Japanese in WW2.

My next stop is Kampung Pelangi, a hillside settlement that has reinvented itself by daubing every home with bright paint.

My fourth stop is Sam Poo Kong, the oldest Chinese temple complex in Semarang. It's full to bursting with statues, temples and a traditional band.

My final stop is the quite magnificent Central Java Grand Mosque.

Overall, I had a great time in Semarang.

I visited the Central Java Great Mosque which is the biggest Mosque of the region. It is huge!

The mosque complex covers 10 hectares (25 acres). Masjid agung jawa tengah, masjid ini dibangun pada tahun 2002 dan selesei pada tahun 2006, arsiteknya oleh bpk Drs ir H Ahmad fanani.
Masjid ini mempunyai 4 buah menara ditambah lagi dengan 1 buah menara namanya menara asmaul husna.
Masjid ini juga mempunyai 6 buah payung raksasa seperti yang ada di masjid nabawi ketinggiannya sampai 20 meter.
Kapasitas maajid ini 6000 + 10000 jamaah.
Koleksi AlQuran raksasa berukuran 145 x 95 cm2, yang ditulis oleh Drs Hayat, menghiasi dalam pintu masjid.
Begitu juga menara Al Husna ini menjadi daya tarik untuk para wisatawan yang mengunjungi tempat ini karena menara ini mempunyai ketinggian 99 meter dan mempunyai 19 lantai.
