Minnesota Lakes At Risk
Presented by Minnesota Waters and the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, this video explores changes to Minnesota's lakes and the impacts of increasing shoreland development on shoreline habitat, water quality, and the enjoyment of lakes for generations to come.
The quality of a lake depends primarily on what happens on the land around the lake and in its watershed. Land use is decided locally, by individuals and local governments, whose land-use choices now will determine the future of Minnesota's lakes. Through conversations with experts, this DVD discusses threats facing our lakes as well as protective strategies for landowners and local government decision-makers that will insure continued enjoyment of Minnesota's lakes.
Healthy lakes are important in many aspects --- our quality of life, recreational enjoyment and the economy of our communities and state. Minnesota's lakes are indeed at risk. We need to act now...before it's too late.
This video shows video of lakes and waterways, shorelines and natural plantings, and maps. It also features interviews with individuals. Link to video transcript:

Welcome to Breckenridge
Breckenridge math teacher Stan Goldade describes how a math lesson turned into this unique public sculpture next to the city's new bike trail. A community project involving math students, local businesses and community-wide support - it was several years in the making. Creative-thinking educators, a spirit of civic cooperation, and wide-spread appreciation of the arts - we think you'll find these attributes in communities across west central Minnesota. And abundantly in Breckenridge.
