En los límites entre el barrio del Vedado y Miramar, hallarás el río Almendares y bajo este el Parque Metropolitano de La Habana. A causa de la variedad y cantidad de especies de planta que resguarda este Parque, es conocido por muchos como “el pulmón de La Habana”. Por situarse en las márgenes del río de La Habana, el espacio que ocupa hoy el Parque Metropolitano siempre estuvo habitado por familias de pescadores, pero no fue hasta 1989 que este Parque fue fundado por Fidel Castro. Hoy se ha convertido en un rincón atractivo para muchos visitantes debido a sus dotes paisajísticas y por ser un bosque urbano.

Central Park, meeting point in Old Havana - inhavana

Thousands of Cubans and foreign visitors go through it every day. It is an excellent starting point to get oriented and to explore Havana. Here are the neighborhoods of Old Havana and Centro Habana. A meeting point, always alive.
Located on the edge of the historical center of Havana, Central Park is a central open-air square. This space adorned by abundant vegetation, stone benches and various fountains has always been a place of recreation. Some take pictures while others enjoy the break and a good conversation.

Cuban man serenade's me in Central Park Havana

While enjoying the free Salsa beats and Cuban Dancing in Central Park in Havana, a Cuban man called me over to sing/serenade me in Spanish. I was very embarrassed surrounded by a crowd of locals and my friends from the Salsa Tour.

Walking around Centro, Central, Havana, Cuba

Centro is the poor area between old Havana and Vedado. You can walk the length of it in about 30mins.

Hotel H 10 Panorama**** is located in the Miramar neighborhood. Miramar is a residential district (zona residencial) in the city of Havana. Many embassis are located in Miramar - in particular on Quinta Avenida (Fifth Avenue). Prior to the Revolution, the neighborhood was home to many of Havana's upscale residents. There are many large houses and mansions here. This district and the Country Club (Siboney) were the most glamorous spaces in the Havana of the 50s. There are beaches and private rental houses. Also located here is the International School of Havana. In the late 1990s and 2000s, several office blocks have been built in a complex called Centro de Negocios Miramar (the Miramar Trade Center). If you want a quiet and nice hotel after visiting Havana this is a good option. It`s 10-minutes drive from Havana Vieja. The hotel has several times a day, a free bus service to the city. The room and bathroom were nice, clean and spacious. There is a large pool with plenty of sun beds in the garden.
