Parramatta Station, Sydney Australia | Sydney Trains
Parramatta railway station is a herigate-listed railway station located on the Main Western line, serving the Sydney suburb of Parramatta in New South Wales, Australia. It is served by Sydney Trains T1 Western Line, T2 Inner West & Leppington and T5 Cumberland Line services and NSW TrainLink Blue Mountains Line, Central West XPT and Outback Xplorer services.
Parramatta station is one of Sydney's oldest. Sydney's first line connected Sydney and Parramatta Junction near Granville and opened on 26 September 1855. It was extended to the current Parramatta station on 4 July 1860.
Prior to the Main Western line being quadrupled from Granville to Westmead in 1985, the station consisted of four platforms, platforms 3 and 4 on the main line and 1 and 2 on a loop.
In late 2003, work began on a new transport interchange which linked the station to the neighbouring Westfield Parramatta shopping centre. The works included upgrading the station, providing more access to commuters, and constructing a new bus interchange. On 19 February 2006 the interchange was opened.

A Sunday morning at Central Station - Sydney Trains
In this video we see a number of trains at Sydney's Central station. With a total of 25 platforms it's Australia's largest railway station and the busiest in New South Wales, serving as the terminus for NSW Trainlink interurban & interstate trains as well as being served by most Sydney Trains' suburban lines.
This video was filmed from suburban platforms 16 - 23 shortly after I finished my XPT ride from Melbourne. Being a weekend however pretty much the only train we see is the Waratah (A Set) which is the newest train in the Sydney Trains fleet. If there's one video that shows how much Sydney Trains love their Waratah's, this is pretty much it. Despite all of this we also see one Millennium (M Set).
Local buffs tell me that Sydney Trains have enough rollingstock that the modern Waratah's and Millenniums are enough to cover services across the network on the weekends (with the obvious exception of the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra line) which means that none of the older silver sets or Tangara's are seen.
To make up for this we do see some heritage trains at the end of the video. At the time of filming the Transport Heritage Expo was on which saw a number of heritage trains & buses on display during the Queens Birthday long weekend with some running shuttles between Central and suburban destinations.
Date: 12th June 2016.
Trains at Central Station - Sydney Trains
In this video we visit Australia's largest train station. Central station is the heart of Sydney's rail network, served by Sydney Trains' suburban trains, NSW Trainlink intercity, regional and interstate trains, and the famous cross-country Indian Pacific across 25 different platforms.
In this video we see various Sydney Trains' suburban trains, starting the video with clips from platforms 16 - 23. Trains seen include the now-retired S Sets, K Sets, Tangara's (T Sets), Millennium's (M Sets) and Waratah's (A Sets), and a NSW Trainlink OSCAR (H Set). We then head to the underground platforms 24 & 25 where we see some Tangara's on the T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra line. As a bonus a not in service K Set also makes an appearance. Roger the Railcar track inspection vehicle also makes a couple of appearances.
This is my last video to be uploaded from Sydney, for now. I hope you've all enjoyed my Sydney content over the past several years.

Expensive train trips to Sydney Airport from Sydney's Central station | 7NEWS
The most expensive one-way trip on the Sydney rail network is a trip to the international or domestic airport from Sydney's central train station.
The cost of the trip is $19.40 which includes a massive $14.90 'access fee.' New data shows that the state government received an additional $10M in revenue from airport trips over the last financial year.
Sydney Airport and state Labor have lobbied for the removal of the excessive fee.
Passengers who spoke to 7NEWS today pointed out that, if you were travelling with a group of people or family, it would cheaper to catch a taxi or Uber to the Sydney airports from the city.

Sydney Metro: Central Station metro upgrade, Central Walk
A $955 million contract has been awarded to build new Sydney Metro underground platforms at Central Station and the landmark Central Walk, transforming Sydney’s busiest station.
This upgrade to Central Station is the biggest improvement to the station in decades – making it easier for customers to connect between light rail, suburban and inter-city trains, the new Sydney Metro and buses.
The Central contract includes:
• The excavation and construction of the new underground Sydney Metro platforms at Central beneath platforms 13 and 14;
• Central Walk – a new 19-metre wide underground concourse from Chalmers Street, connecting customers to suburban rail platforms, Sydney Metro platforms, the new light rail and buses;
• For the first time, customers will be able to use escalators to get to platforms 12 to 23;
• Completion of the Central Walk and Central Station metro upgrade contract is expected in 2022, with Central Walk open to customers.
Once the Central contract is complete, work will continue along the 30km length of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project to lay tracks and fit out stations before services start in 2024.
More than 270,000 people use the station daily, with that number expected to rise to 450,000 in the next two decades.
Work to build the Sydney Metro platforms at Central will happen underground and during Sydney Trains’ scheduled maintenance shutdowns.
As customers get on with their daily lives at Central Station, the Sydney Metro platforms will be constructed right under their feet. The first part of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project at Central has been completed with major construction finished on a rail access bridge which will be used to safely deliver Sydney Metro, and improve access for ongoing maintenance work at Central.
The bridge was built in 10 months and connects Regent Street with Sydney Yard, allowing trucks easy access within the confines of a working railway.
