A SINGLE STOREY HOUSE FOR SALE IN THE POPULAR NORTH OF CORFU.Situated one kilometer from the sea, the property is in a quiet lane on the outskirts of Sfakera, a small friendly village with a taverna where the locals and British ex pats gather. Nearby Roda a former fishing village now an attractive beach resort which boasts of tavernas, bars, hotels and swimming pools. Other facilities include Supermarkets and a nearby doctor’s surgery, pharmacy and dentist .There are also petrol stations, car repair shops, mechanics and hardware outlets. A bus service from Roda/Acharavi will take you to fascinating and historic Corfu Town and other parts of the island.
The sandy beach has safe bathing and has plenty of opportunities to enjoy a meal or drink looking across the channel to the mountains of Albania. Traditional Greek tavernas abound and Italian, Indian restaurants are available. British tastes are also provided for.
About one and a half kilometers to the East down the main northern road is the biggest village in the north of the island, Acharavi. Here you can find several larger supermarkets and many retail outlets where practically anything can be found. Acharavi is also a beach resort but larger and a little livelier.
The House
A white and blue, single storey, detached property of 75sq.m standing in a 1000 sq. plot is approached through an electronic gate fronting onto the road. On each side of the drive are gardens with rose bushes and magnolia trees etc. To the left of the house the drive continues to the rear offering parking for several cars.
The front door opens onto a large open plan area containing living, dining and large kitchen areas. All arranged to give plenty of space to each. There is central heating, air conditioning and a wood burning stove making a warm and cosy room during the short winter. There are a large number of electrical sockets.
A hall, one wall lined with floor to ceiling bookshelves, leads to the bedrooms, the biggest of which has French windows leading on to a small, canopied balcony with its own electrical outlet cold water and waste outlet. There are steps down to the rear garden. The second bedroom has bookshelves, cupboards and room for a double or two single beds. Air conditioning and central heating serves each bedroom .All windows are double glazed and have fly and mosquito net protection.
The bathroom leads off the hall and contains a variety of cupboards as well as the usual bath, WC and wash hand basin. There is a heated towel rail and the bath has an overhead shower
The rear garden has orange, mandarin, and a Greek fruit tree its name escapes me. Olive trees which we harvest, and cure ourselves providing jars full for consumption or presents. It is idea for a swimming pool, outdoor entertaining. Should you wish to escape to a less stressful life in a country where everyone is friendly kind and generous, this is the place to change to the Good Life (no Margot Ledbetter).More than enough fresh food to share/swap with your friends and neighbours. Altogether a delightful place to live.
