Located on the west coast of Sri Lanka at the mouth of the Negombo Lagoon, Negombo draws tourists who stop over on their way to or from the airport.

We are on the way to lunch with a family friend and find that the expressway quarters the time it takes to reach the area. Bill Gates and other 'greats' are pondering how to reduce global population but in the target areas they appear to be unconcerned about the matter. No doubt, they consider people who bring up the subject to be mad.

Negombo Fish Market, Negombo, Sri Lanka
This has got to be one of the biggest fish markets in all of Sri Lanka. It is late Friday morning and the place is b bustling with all sorts. There is more that does not come out in this video: Early in the morning vans and trucks from far away arrive and the crews negotiate the prices of the fruits de mer for onward transportation to other places such as Colombo. The poor fish have little respite; some fishermen fish only by day and others only by night. I think there should be marine wildlife reserves so that our fishy friends do not become extinct or excessively inbred. Will the UN take any notice?
