If this was the elite force I would expect them to have shot down those people who attacked them. The reaction, their training, should be of a level that if anybody shoots towards that something that they are guarding, in less than three seconds they should shoot the man down. Now that should be the level of training that I expect from an elite force and therefore since they have not been able to shoot anyone or kill anyone, I think we need to improve that standard. And secondly, I want to say another thing, and that is to the public. This was not a place which was secluded. There were buildings around and there was traffic around. I would like to tell the public of Pakistan, there should have been a brave man who should have taken his car and charged those people who were running around and brought him under the car. Or somebody from some building who had a weapon to shoot him down, so how is that that the public also did not react when this whole incident took about 30-35 minutes or 25 minutes. Yes, I would say lack of training and I do not know what was the secure details of the security so I wouldn't like to comment, but yes our reaction should have been much better.

STORYLINE:
Pakistan's former president General Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday criticised the Pakistani police over their handling of the recent bloody attack on Sri Lanka's cricket team in Lahore and suggested their training was deficient.
Musharraf said on Thursday that the elite force of Pakistan police should have reacted within three seconds to gun down the militants.
Six police officers and a driver were killed and seven players, an umpire and an assistant coach were wounded in the ambush in Lahore on Tuesday, which occurred despite government pledges to give the Sri Lankan players and match officials the same level of protection afforded a head of state in the country.
Since they have not been able to shoot anyone or kill anyone, I think we need to improve that standard, Musharraf told the media in the capital, Islamabad.
Musharraf also expressed his disappointment with the reaction of the public and those present in the area where attack took place and said someone should have reacted to the incident which according to him lasted nearly half an hour.
There should have been a brave man who should have taken his car and charged those people who were running around and brought him under the car, Musharraf said.
Our reaction should have been much better, he added.
Police in Pakistan said on Thursday they were questioning several people detained in the hunt for those behind the attack.
Days before the attack, Pakistan's government dismissed the opposition-led local administration in Lahore as part of a bitter political dispute.
Several people have alleged that chaos resulting from that decision could have been a factor in the security lapses.
Other Pakistani officials have defended the security measures, noting policemen guarding the convoy were killed.
Following the attack, the surveillance video, broadcast on Pakistani television, showed several attackers apparently escaping down a side street on motorcycles while brandishing weapons.
Three were shown walking along the middle of the street, apparently in no fear that they were being chased by police.
None of the gunmen were killed, and all apparently escaped.
The assault bore similarities to November's three-day rampage in the Indian financial capital of Mumbai.

Theravāda (; Pāli, lit. School of the Elders) is the most ancient branch of extant Buddhism today, and the one that preserved their version of the teachings of Gautama Buddha in the Pāli Canon. The Pāli Canon is the only complete Buddhist canon which survives in a classical Indian language, Pāli, which serves as both sacred language and lingua franca of Theravāda Buddhism. For more than a millennium, Theravāda has focused on preserving the dhamma as preserved in its texts, and it tends to be very conservative with regard to matters of doctrine and monastic discipline. Since the 19th century, meditation practice has been re-introduced, and has become popular with a lay audience, both in traditional Theravada countries and in the west.As a distinct school of early Buddhism, Theravāda Buddhism developed in Sri Lanka and subsequently spread to the rest of Southeast Asia. It is the dominant form of religion in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, and is practiced by minority groups in India, Bangladesh, China, Nepal, and Vietnam. In addition, the diaspora of all of these groups as well as converts around the world practice Theravāda Buddhism. Contemporary expressions include Buddhist modernism, the Vipassana movement, and the Thai Forest Tradition.
