Understanding Bordeaux Pomerol with Chateau La Conseillante
The vineyards of Pomerol are contiguous to those of St. Emilion, and share the same culture of grapes: Merlot (the majority) and Cabernet Franc. Pomerol therefore produces wines that are theoretically unrelated to those of Medoc and only the mosaic soils of ferrous and gravely clay to distinguish it from the neighboring appellation. We were welcomed at the Chateau La Conseillante to understand the identity of the appellation Pomerol, and offered a tasting class during which we discover the usefulness of the decanting and the importance of wine glasses...
