Cha Am’s beach hugs a pleasant tree lined road and stretches for miles in each direction. On the clearest days, Hua Hin’s tallest hotels are visible in the distance. Many visitors to Cha Am might not be aware that the town comprises much more than the beach and adjacent roads, but most tourists simply stay near the beach as this is where all the action is, and there isn’t much reason to venture any further.
Due to its length, the beach is rarely crowded (unless there is a local festival or special event happening in which case it’s chockablock) and there is plenty of room for everyone. There are a few areas where tourists congregate but anyone who wants solitude can find it easily. The abundant pine trees provide some welcome shade and the sand is fine, so the beach is understandably popular with Thais but a few foreigners can be found soaking up the sun. The atmosphere here is decidedly different to Hua Hin, but both provide an enjoyable beach side experience.

I recently came across this little beach town called Cha-am beach. it's a little slice of Heaven in Thailand if you're interested in the ladybar seen like in Pattaya or Bangkok. I review the street know as little pattaya. If you are traveling on a budget this is be a place for you. Room and board is relatively cheap here and the bars are cheap as well. It is a small town so you get to know everybody.
DISCLAIMER: cha am is a very small town, word travels quick. Example: If you have more than one girlfriend, most likely they will find out about it.

Cha-Am is only about 200 kilometers (150 miles) southwest of Bangkok so it's a very popular spot for weekend vacationers and especially on long weekends. The best option for getting there from Bangkok is taxi and it takes about two hours.

Chanya's salon crew and friends organised a couple of days away in Cha-Am. I really had no idea what to expect for this little adventure, but I certainly wasn't disappointed. All the girls were looking absolutely delicious in their bikini's and swimsuits and the food was great too.
Did I mention the food! Oh my god! The one thing that struck me most was how the food started at around 2pm in the afternoon and, no joke, it kept coming until late in the evening and then they were cooking again first thing next morning. The Thai's sure eat a lot!
It was a great 2 days away in the fresh clean air of Cha-Am. Better still, it was mid week so there was no crowds to contend with either. Chanya looked absolutely hot in her new bikini too!

First of all, I'd like to send out a really big Thank You to Rob and Bee for the wonderful time we spent together checking out Cha-Am over the 2 days. The Nightlife was something totally spur of the moment but also a sharp contrast to places like Soi Cowboy or Walking Street in Pattaya. It is a pace of life I could certainly get used to that's for sure.
You may have been following the Thailand news recently and I really think the picture of holiday making here in Thailand is not really showing the true story. Rob has been visiting here for many years and he also thinks the number of tourists is severely down in recent years. The low exchange rates no longer make Thailand the end destination for Australians as their dollar can go further in other countries. The heavy hand from the Immigration Authority is also scaring away travellers who can afford to come here as well.
I just hope the elections next year will usher in a new era for Thailand because if this exodus continues, Thailand will find it the Tourist industry collapsing completely.
