Mountain Biking in the Yukon
Canada's Yukon is fast gaining a reputation as one of North America's best mountain biking destinations. Yukon has everything riders are seeking: world-class wilderness, established trails, great bike events and a thriving mountain biking community. Places like Carcross, Faro, Keno Hill, Dawson City and the Yukon River Valley surrounding Whitehorse have hundreds of miles of old mining and moose trails, as well as newer double and single-track for cycling.
Whether your idea of a good ride is carving down the Sam McGee Trail near Carcross or coasting along the paved riverfront trail in Whitehorse, the Yukon has biking routes and events for everybody. Cycling hits a fever pitch in June as riders take to the Haines Highway for a road bike relay from Haines Junction to Haines, Alaska, and teams ride under 24 Hours of Light on the boreal trails of Whitehorse.
From spring until fall, riders can explore trails contouring the sage-covered ridges around Whitehorse, from a rip around warm and inviting Long Lake to the hilly trails, deep forest and panoramic views of Chadburn Lake.
Throughout the Yukon, old mining roads and overgrown bush trails are being re-discovered and re-built by mountain bikers. Around Carcross, riders are re-tracing historic Tlingit trails and mining routes. Near Dawson City, the Ridge Road Heritage Trail traverses the Klondike gold fields, and the hills around Keno beckon with rolling terrain and a colourful silver mining legacy.

In this part we continue to fish Snafu, then we proceed to drive into Whitehorse and check out town, before heading up to little fox to catch come grayling and small lakers. We catch a number of fish, Large pike, some nice grayling, and some small Lakers. We drove in from Alaska and hit the lakes. Great times to be had in the Yukon!
If you are driving through I suggest throwing a canoe on top and fishing some of the great lakes the yukon has to offer and if you are not from the Yukon a season long license is only $35. Great opportunities with a canoe at some lakes and a great way to pass some time. Canadian Campgrounds are reasonable and the Yukon does an amazing job at making sure they are well kept! Kudos to the YUKON for their quality outdoor experiences. If you don't want to stay at a campground Queens land camping is free and it saves space for other campers! This is a beautiful land

We continue to pound the pike in this part. Fishing in clear water is amazing. It is awesome seeing pike laying on the bottom in the sticks of a beaver dam.
I fished here for a few days with my kids and met up with a buddy and met someone else I took out as well. The older gentleman is from Germany and I met him and his wife and took him out for a ride and some trolling. He had a blast and sure enough I was at the lake again at the same time this year and they were there again! The Yukon is an amazing place! This is my family vacation fishing with the kids and meeting up with my brother and nephew. Remember barbless on many or most Yukon waters. We caught some whitefish and grayling on the way and when we got to Snafu just pike. Some giants. My nephew caught most of the giant pike. We had a blast. Check out the second Vid to see the trip and the fishing. Yukon territory Canada fishing canadian pike fishing.
My nephew and I went out and he caught pike after pike. These are some of the larger ones. These were caught over the course of 3 days and the day him and I went out in the canoe the fish were hungry for his lure. Amazing Fishing Trip Four Mile Lake Rainbow trout Fox Lakers Grayling Yukon Alaska Highway #5
Four Mile Lake Rainbow trout Little Fox Lakers Grayling Yukon Territory Alaska Highway Mini vid #5
Family Fishing trip In this last part of our trip we fished at the Little fox before proceeding back to home. We got poured on and then had an amazing rainbow shine upon us. My son caught a fish and went to wash his hands and flipped over the edge of the boat and into the lake. We drove down to Dezadeash Lake and it was calm until about 5 minutes before we got there and then the wind kicked up and the launch was inaccessible with high waves. We stopped at a small stream/creek and caught some whitefish on tiny ice flies dropped over the bank, fun on light line. We stopped at Four Mile Lake about 10 miles East of TOK and I'm guessing 4 miles up the Taylor Highway. Check out my video of that. Long hike down the trail. Could probably fish the shore with waiters, but not sure, lot of lily pads and not sure how hard the bottom is, but spoons and spinners work well on this lake, so casting far enough shouldn't be a problem. Fish are fairly aggressive towards spoons and spinners on this lake. Belly boat would be nice, canoe with 2 people, or one tough or crazy person. I have hiked into 4 mile with a canoe solo and I would not say I am tough, crazy yes. Not great on the back. Getting to the lake is easy and down hill. If you get tired of carrying the canoe just set it down and drag it. It is getting up that it the killer. Took me 30 minutes solo with about 10-15 minutes of rest included in that time. Bring bug spray for the hike in and out. Checked out some scenes along the way and flipped a few cast here and there. Cooked Rainbows when we got home and stopped at the Santa Claus House in North Pole before heading down to the Kenai(check that part of the trip out)

Yukon Morning Sunset
We followed the locals up to the Dome in Dawson City, Yukon to watch the summer solstice sunset. Up here the sun travels horizontally across the horizon instead of setting vertically. It was 12:45 AM before it set behind the distant mountain range and was up again a couple of hours later. Too cool.
