And in case you’re worried, eating Thai street food is perfectly safe. It’s what the locals eat and it is cooked fresh and sold quickly. I’ve been eating it for 5 years in Thailand and my friends who have been to visit and tour Thailand have all eaten it, and none of us have had any problems. Thai street food is some of the best Thai food you’ll find in Thailand!

Wat Chalong night markets
In Phuket during Chinese new year the main temple in Chalong puts on a 2 week night market. Roasted quail, sunflower sprouts wrapped in bacon, meat on a stick, insects, veggies, plants and working knives all can be found here. Be prepared to over eat!

Phuket's Best Market not to be missed at Wat Chalong
Join me as we take a look at probably the best market on the island of Phuket this very special market takes place just once a year in the grounds of the beautiful Wat Chalong temple normally taking place around the beginning February and running for just 8 days.
The goods on offer are wide and varied from home, garden, clothing and of course food however it does not stop there, there's also a host of entertainment on offer including a large free concert, free traditional Thai dance show and even a funfair for the kids.
If you happen to be on the island at the start of February then this market is not to be missed great for solo travellers, group and families alike with people travelling from another province in Thailand to sell all kinds of different food you wouldn't normal find in Phuket.
This is well worth a look........

Chalong & Rawai Beach - Phuket - Thailand
Video by
Chalong & Rawai Beach
The laid back south of Phuket is where Chalong and Rawai are located, both are destinations where visitors can experience a taste of the local culture, away from the bustling tourist beach resorts.
Chalong
Chalong is home to Wat Chalong, the most revered Buddhist temple on the island. Visitors from near and far travel to make merit at the temple with prayers, burning incense and by placing gold leaf on the statues of two monks famed for their role in helping the sick and injured during the tin miners rebellion in 1876.
Another Buddhist landmark which can't be missed is the massive Big Buddha, constructed on a hill between Chalong and Kata. The huge mountain top sitting Buddha statue is made from thousands of tiles of white Burmese marble which glisten in the sun. The site of the Big Buddha offers amazing 360 degree panoramic views of the island.
Chalong also has a picturesque bay and pier, used as a launch pad for speed boats and yachts to visit many of the beautiful tropical islands off the east coast.
Rawai Beach
At the very south of the island, Rawai has a pretty beach with a promenade and bobbing long tail boats in the water. Rawai Beach is not suitable for swimming but is where you can speak directly to a local boat owner and arrange a trip to many of the paradise islands surrounding Phuket's coastline.
Along the beachfront discover the sea gypsy village where the daily seafood market sells the fresh catch of the day, or dine on the promenade at one of the many local seafood restaurants with beachfront seating to enjoy the serene views.
Chalong Phuket Thailand
The large market at Wat Chalong extends into the grounds of the temple and features amplified pop music and Thai-fighting advertisements.
Day trip Phuket, Thailand| Big Buddha, Chalong temple, Night Market, Elephants
This is a one day trip we did during our holiday in Phuket, Thailand. We visited Chalong temple, Big Buddha, the night market in Phuket town, view point in Kata and a place advertised as play with baby elephants, which instead was just a place where for a certain fee, people could ride the elephants and there where also a few monkeys in chains locked in a cage. Very, very sad thing to see....
