The Chambal Garden is located in southeastern Rajasthan, India on the banks of the Chambal River in the town of Kota.
The garden draws large number of couples . The garden has also a toy train which gives the complete tour of the garden. The garden is a good place for persons who like boating and want to spend a quality time in solitudeness.
Visiting hours 9am-9pm all day open.
Some scenes of the 2017 Bollywood film Badrinath Ki Dulhania were also shot here.

The Shivpuri Dham is located in the Thekra city in Kota, Rajasthan. This is considered to be the only place where one can find as many as 525 shivlings.People from different communities, caste, creed and religions very excitedly come to visit this historic temple. Many major festivals celebrated in this temple apart from Mahashivratri and Raasleela, on a very grand scale. One of the shivlings is stated to be as high as 15 feet and is made from a single black stone. There is no entry fee for visiting this place. You will certainly enjoy clicking pictures in this lovely place.

6.Kota Zoological Park
kota has its zoo near by kishore sagar lake. And Kota Zoological Park located in Nayapura, Kota, Rajasthan,India.Visitors can find a large variety of animals at this location.

7.Godavari Dham
Godavari Dham Temple in Kota is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, which is located on the banks of River Chambal. The temple is visited by thousands of devotees,especially on Tuesdays and Saturdays to attend the special pooja for Lord Hanuman. There is also daily pooja in the temple during early morning and evening. There is special midnight Aarti too held on Tuesdays and Saturdays to pray for the blessing of the deity.

8.Garadia Mahadev
Garadia Mahadev Temple lies on one of the cliffs. The rituals are performed by a local priest who generally stays in the shrine till around 5:30pm. Late nights are not recommended. The place is picture perfect like a painting made by God himself. You can actually realize the bliss of solitude by sitting here for some time. The place has served many as a spot for picnic. The largest tributary of Yamuna, river Chambal is known for being the abode of many water species. Sitting on cliff you may catch a glimpse of the crocodiles, turtles etc

9.Jal Mandir
The Jal Mandir meaning Water Temple, also known as Apapuri,in Pawapuri, meaning a town without sins,in the Indian state of Bihar, is a highly revered temple dedicated to Lord Mahavira, the 24th Thirthankara (religious preacher of Jainism) and founder of Jain religion, which marks the place of his cremation. Mahavira attained Nirvana (salvation) in Pawapuri in 528 BC.The temple has been built within a tank filled with red coloured lotus flowers. It is said that the temple was built by King Nandivardhan, Mahavira's elder brother. It is one of the five main temples in Pawpuri, where the Charan Paduka or foot impression of Mahavira is deified.

10.Keshav Rai Temple
Keshav Rai Temple is a temple on the Chambal River in Keshoraipatan, India. It was built in 1601 by Maharaja Shatru Sal of Bundi. Many devotees take bath in the Chambal River during Kartik poornima and take part in the kartik fair.

Gharial breeding along the Chambal river in India

Gharial is evolutionarily the most unique crocodilian in the world being a specialized river dwelling fish-eater, but harmless to humans. It lives in deep fast-fl owing rivers. The bulbous ‘ghara’ on the tip of the snout of mature males just above the nostrils, helps in creating a snorting hiss to advertise the animal’s presence, and dominance. Gharials nest between March to May. Female gharials excavate egg chambers in sand banks, depositing up to an average of 60 eggs, which hatch in 90 days. Gharials guard their eggs and young ones as long as they are not unusually disturbed by humans.

Gharials are endemic to the Indian sub-continent. Once found abundantly in all the major river systems of South Asia, the Gharial is now extinct in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Burma and Bhutan. Nepal has only a remnant breeding population. In India too, the major breeding populations are confined to two rivers only, Girwa and the Chambal. The two rivers run along the borders of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. A few non-breeding populations exist in small pockets in other rivers in India.

Gharial is listed as ‘Critically Endangered’ in the IUCN Red List of Endangered Species. Between 2007-2008, over 100 Gharials in the Chambal perished in a mystery die-off attributed to a nephro-toxin possibly originating from contaminated fish in the Yamuna.
The Gharial is under increasing pressure for survival due to a combination of factors like:
• Habitat alteration and destruction: A combination of land-use changes and exploitation
such as sand-mining, riverside agriculture, livestock grazing, and hydrological modifications such as building of dams for water diversion.
• Prey depletion: Over harvesting of fish stocks. Construction of dams and barrages obstructing dispersal and migration of fish.
• Direct mortality: Drowning of Gharial in fishing nets. Its nest destruction and local egg collection.
• Pollution and siltation: Pollution and siltation of rivers damage fish stocks, and are also believed to be the direct cause of the catastrophic die off of 2007-2008 in the Chambal.
• Hunting: In the past, Gharial was hunted for skin, trophies and use in indigenous medicine.

By 1976, the population of Gharial had plummeted to less than 200 individuals. Getting alarmed, the Government of India subsequently accorded the highest level of protection to Gharial by bringing it under Schedule I of the Wild Life Protection Act, 1972. In 1976, Project Crocodile was with support from the United Nations Development Programme and Food and Agriculture Organization. The project included an intensive captive rearing and breeding programme intended to restock depleted Gharial habitats.

Kota - a gritty industrial and commercial city on the Chambal, Rajasthan's only permanent river. It is worth to see here really nice City Palace as well as Chambal Gardens, where everyone can relax for 5 rupees (or just 2 if you are Indian :P ).
City Palace entered through a gateway topped by rampant elephants , was in the past the royal residence and centre of power, but today contains museum where you can see everything from silver furniture to weaponry. There is also sad and depressing room - full of moth-eaten stuffed trophy animals as well as photos of hunters...
