The House of Lanson was founded in 1760 by François Delamotte, an influential character in Reims society. The joint owner, alongside his wife, of a not-insubstantial vineyard in Cumières and Ay, he decided to found his own Champagne house – one of the very first ever to exist.

Lanson is the only Grande Maison in Reims to offer a Champagne experience from the vine to the flute.
Our guided tours last around 1 hr 30 mins and are available in English or French. Advanced booking is required.
A true journey of initiation, the tour takes visitors through the different stages of the Champagne production process in a unique, interactive setting.

In this video, Jancis Robinson MW guides guests through a comparison of the fourth pair of champagnes tasted on the evening: Lanson Clos Lanson 2006 vs Lanson Gold Label Brut Vintage 2005.
We believe there is great value in Vintage Champagne and this tasting put the theory to the test! Guests were invited to taste eight pairs of the latest vintage Prestige Cuvée and Vintage Champagnes from the same House, under the direction of Jancis Robinson MW, the world's leading wine journalist, author, presenter and critic.

We loved our cave tour and champagne tasting at GH Mumm and highly recommend visiting this champagne house. It was the perfect day trip from Paris and we would do it again in a heart beat! We are already planning our return!

L’Ambassadeur de la Maison Jean Imbert, premier fan de la cuvée Green Label, s’était déplacé pour l’occasion. En accord avec la cuvée, il a proposé aux invités une bouchée apéritive à base de daurade et betterave.

My friend invited me to go with him September 2008 and check out some wine in France and Italy.

Situated on top of the hill where the House of Lanson and its wine cellars are also located, Clos Lanson benefits from a distinctive microclimate and particularly chalky soil.
The vineyard is treated just like a family garden due to its small size and the special care and attention that it has always received.
