A Walk Down The Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Paris
The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is an avenue in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, 1.9 kilometres (1.2 mi) long and 70 metres (230 ft) wide, running between the Place de la Concorde and the Place Charles de Gaulle, where the Arc de Triomphe is located. It is known for its theatres, cafés, and luxury shops, for the annual Bastille Day military parade, and as the finish of the Tour de France cycle race. The name is French for the Elysian Fields, the paradise for dead heroes in Greek mythology.
It is one of the most famous streets in the world.
The avenue runs for 1.91 km (1.18 mi) through the 8th arrondissement in northwestern Paris, from the Place de la Concorde in the east, with the Obelisk of Luxor, to the Place Charles de Gaulle (formerly the Place de l'Étoile) in the west, location of the Arc de Triomphe. The Champs-Élysées forms part of the Axe historique.
The lower part of the Champs-Élysées, from the Place de la Concorde to the Rond-Point, runs through the Jardin des Champs-Élysées, a park which contains the Grand Palais, the Petit Palais, the Théâtre Marigny, and several restaurants, gardens and monuments. The Élysée Palace, the official residence of the Presidents of France, borders the park, but is not on the Avenue itself. The Champs-Élysées ends at the Arc de Triomphe, built to honour the victories of Napoleon Bonaparte.

At 2:22 the stroll down the avenue des Champs-Élysées begins and continues down to the Rond Point roundabout and back up the other side of the avenue. Purely documentary, not romantic or creative.

Beyond the touristy vibe, there's plenty to do and see on the world famous boulevard. (Paris, France)
Arc de Triomphe, the famous french landmark, was built by Napolean to serve as French war victories. Engraved under the arc are the names of more than one hundred battles, and also the names of the generals who lead the armies. From Arc de Triomphe, if you start walking eastwards, you come across great landmarks like Luxor and the Louvre Museum. And on the way, you also walk on this tiny little avenue called the Champs-Élysées. The German army marched here in 1940 and the American army marched there in 1944. Even today, it is the site of events like the Bastille Parade and the finish point of Tour de France. Less officially, a lot of people come here on New Year's Eve, to celebrate with bottles of champagne. The avenue has a more touristic feel to it. You are not going to find a lot of locals here. It is only ten o'clock in the morning and there is already a line of people waiting for the shops to open.
Interestingly, there are two car dealerships where you can check out the latest concept cars. Ono is one of them. There are lots of restaurants and cafes, considering this is one of the most expensive real estates in the world. Food and drink are not going to be cheap. Fouguet's is a legend, French palace during the first world war used to hang out here. More recently, freshly elected Nicolas Sarkozy came to celebrate is victory with his friend here on election night. Laduree is a well-known bakery and their desserts back at home have a very good reputation. Do not get too involved on cafes and shops every now and then to look up to get a glimpse of the wonderful architecture. Champs-Élysées has been home to a lot of cinemas and theaters. A lot of films are played in English with French subtitles. The Champs really has two parts - as you get closer to the Plaza de Luxor, past the commercial area, the character of the avenue changes totally. Shops and cafes are gone and you are in the middle of trees. It is a nice walk, much quiet than the avenue with all the cars. This is Cecil showing you Paris.

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is a boulevard in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, 1.9 kilometers long and 70 meters wide, which runs between the Place de la Concorde and the Place Charles de Gaulle, where the Arc de Triomphe is located.
Every year on Bastille Day on 14 July, the largest military parade in Europe passes down the Champs-Élysées, reviewed by the President of the Republic.
Every year during Advent, Christmastide, and Epiphany, the 'Champs-Élysées' Committee contribute for the Holidays seasons lighting of the Champs-Élysées. This generally occurs from late November until early January.

Les Champs-Elysées sont situés sur la rive droite de Paris. Ils prennent naissance Place de la Concorde, en face de l'Hôtel Crillon et du Jardin des Tuileries, puis s'éloignent vers l'Arc de Triomphe. Les Champs-Elysées sont bordés par le Palais de l'Elysée au nord, par le Grand et le Petit Palais au sud, et sont également le point de départ de la rue la plus chère de la capitale française: L'avenue Montaigne.
Les Champs-Elysées -- Histoire
Les Champs-Elysées ont été créés en 1667 par Le Nôtre, architecte du roi. Louis XIV l'a chargé de créer une élégante avenue entre son palais d'été à St-Germain-en-Laye et le Louvre. Cette avenue est devenue encore plus attractive par la suite avec l'apparition de fontaines, de restaurants et de théâtres qui ont transformé les Champs-Elysées en un lieu incontournable pour les français riches et célèbres.
La Place De La Concorde
Cette place est la symbolique de la royauté et de la révolution à Paris. Voulue par Louis XIV au 17è siècle, « La concorde » est ornée de statues raffinées et de fontaines monumentales. Elle est aussi flanquée de l'Assemblée Nationale et du Parlement. La royauté et ses symboles se retrouvent dans les fontaines couvertes d'or et les anciens jardins royaux : Les Tuileries. Louis XVI y sera guillotiné avec Marie-Antoinette. En son centre, on peut admirer la mystérieuse Obélisque en provenance de Louxor, en Egypte.
Avenue Montaigne
L'avenue Montaigne est connue pour ses boutiques de Haute-Couture : Chanel, Dior, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton... Ajoutez à cela un théâtre magnifique et des cafés glamours et vous obtenez la recette parfaite pour un chic sans commune mesure. Faites une pause au Plaza Athénée vu dans Sex & the City pour siroter un martini et regarder passer les stars.
Shopping
Les Champs-Elysées sont l'endroit rêvé pour cela. L'avenue dispose de nombreuses boutiques de vêtements, chaussures, parfums, pâtisseries et même des boutiques de musique et de livres. Ne manquez pas le fameux supermarché Monoprix à la fin de l'avenue pour acheter de quoi cuisiner dans la cuisine équipée votre location de vacances!

Il abrite un joli musée dont l'entrée est gratuite ; vous pouvez donc y aller jeter un œil à cette collection éclectique d'art, depuis l'antiquité romaine jusqu'à nos jours.En regardant plus bas sur la rue, vous pouvez admirer le dôme doré des Invalides, le Pont Alexandre III, l'un des plus beaux ponts de la ville, avec ses chevaux volants recouverts d'or, ou encore trouver non loin le Ledoyen, l'un des meilleurs restaurants de cuisine française, qui remonte à Louis XVI.

Make no mistake: the Champs-Élysées remains the most famous avenue in Paris—and, perhaps, the world. Like New York's Times Square or London's Piccadilly Circus, it is a mecca for travelers and locals alike. Some Parisians complain that fast-food joints and chain stores have cheapened Avenue des Champs-Élysées, but others are more philosophical, noting that there
is something here for everyone. If you can't afford lunch at Ladurée, there's always McDonald's (and the view from its second floor is terrific).
Anchoring the Champs is the Arc de Triomphe, Napoléon's monument to himself. At the other end, the exquisitely restored Grand Palais plays host to some of the city's grandest art exhibitions. Across the street, the permanent art collection is free at the Petit Palais, and there's also a quiet garden café. Between here and Place du Trocadéro, a busy traffic circle, you can find several museums housed in some of Paris’s most impressive buildings: at the Palais de Chaillot complex is the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine, a must for architecture buffs, and across the plaza is the charming nautical-theme Musée National de la Marine. Farther on, the Musée Guimet has a superlative Asian art collection. The Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, on Avenue du Président Wilson, contains a free permanent collection of 20th-century pieces. Contemporary-art lovers should also check out what's showing next door at the trendy Palais de Tokyo.These twin Art Nouveau buildings, constructed for the 1937 World's Fair, are notable for their monumental facades. Across the street is the Palais Galliera: framed by a lovely garden outside, it has a museum inside that focuses on fashion.

The Arc de Triomphe (meaning arch of victory), at the centre of the place de l'Étoile and the western end of the Champs-Elysées, is a very famous monument in Paris. Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte commissioned it in 1806 after victory in the Battle of Austerlitz. It is a large arch, but it is not possible to drive underneath it. Jean-François Chalgrin designed it, and it has roughly 300 steps that lead to the top. It has four main sculptures and six reliefs. Just beneath the vault of the arch, there is the tomb of the unknown soldier. The names of French generals and battles are engraved on the walls.
