Newfoundland: Butter Pot Provincial Park
This park is only 30 minutes away from St. John's. So if you just happen to be in the city for a few days and is up for a little bit of adventure, this park is the place to be.
You will definitely love the nature, the peaceful trail, there is a lovely swimming area, and also a place where you can boat. Definitely a quick getaway for relaxation!
When I and my husband went here, it was actually around April last year. The sun was out and the ice wasn't as bad. The park was not officially opened yet but we still went in just for a walk. Unfortunately, we couldn't go up to the butter pot hill because the trail was still bit icy and dangerous but we still had so much walking and exploring the place in the cool breeze.

East coast trail hiking adventure in Newfoundland!
This is a hike on the east coast trail in Newfoundland, Canada. We stayed at the Brown Rabbit Cabins on the Southern shore south of St.johns. We took their 9 day walkabout package. It was excellent! The food was great, we were took to the beginnings of the trails and picked up at the end by our jolly happy bus driver Bill. Then when we came home we were cooked a wonderful home style supper by Isa.If you get a chance to make it out to Newfoundland I highly recommend staying with these folks. They do all the work, and you hike....Beautiful!!
Check out their website!!
'Newfoundland'
Several months in the making, our decision to make the move out to California has pushed us past our comfort zone and led us to meet some wonderful people and given us opportunities to skate some amazing places, people we call family and places we call home. We freaking love this stuff! Every chance Connor and I get to go somewhere new, we try to do it, because who knows what kind of new and endless opportunities we could be missing out on! You never know until you try, right?
Thank you to all who watch, we really really enjoyed putting this together!!
Check the credits for all the details, thx
Great Canadian Parks #3- Gros Morne National Park, Nfld
On the shores of Newfoundland, this park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has some of the most spectacularly beautiful vistas in all of Canada. Woodland Caribou traditionally inhabit the highland of the interior but in recent years, have been migrating down to the coast. Human history in this region goes back 9,000 years

Desolate southern tip of the Avalon peninsula, Newfoundland
Desolate southern tip of the Avalon peninsula, Newfoundland. You can't hear me over the wind, but I'm pointing out that cars are so infrequent that I could stand there with the camcorder and do a leisurely 360 degree view without any fear of getting run over.

Hiking the Long Range Traverse (LRT), Gros Morne, Newfoundland 2016
We began our unmarked 5-day trek across The Long Range Traverse trail in Newfoundland, Gros Morne National Park.
This was one of the hardest yet most rewarding adventures we've ever been on to date. The trail pushes new limits, defines new strengths (and weaknesses!). When you actually have no choice but to keep on going, you define the undefinable. You push harder than you've ever pushed before simply because you have no other choice. It's either keep on keeping on, or calling a helicopter to your rescue. There is no civilization for miles and miles around. It is you vs. the elements!
If you're thinking about hiking this trail- this video sums up all the highs you'll go through!

The Ultimate Gift | Bruce Templeton | TEDxStJohns
Lessons from the man in the red suit. Bruce shares his wisdom gained from working with Saint Nicholas for over 1500 visits with children. He takes us through four very memorable visits and the lifelong lessons they taught him.
Bruce Templeton believes that you get one chance to make a memory for a child. His volunteer life has been thrilling youth at Scout Jamborees (Provincial Commissioner, Scouts Canada) , hearing children laugh on new playground equipment in Bowring Park (Founding Chair of the Bowring Park Foundation) or seeing how United Way has made such a difference in our community and province. (Bruce was the founding Campaign Chair of United Way.)
In 2015, Bruce officially received the Order of St. Nick in Albany, NY. Over the past 37 years he has assisted Santa and they have had over 1500 visits together. He is a former Chair of the St. John’s Board of Trade. Bruce and his son Jim own and operate a financial planning office.
Bruce is an active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, married for 46 years to Paula, and together they have three children and five grandchildren.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
