A short trip to CHANDRAKETUGARH
Hi guys this is Rajdip.
On 23rd December 2018 Sunday morning I plan for a short trip, after a long research me and my friends decided to go #Chandraketugarh due to shortage of time we decided to explore this place and we go for it.
⭐ About the place ⭐
???? English:-
Chandraketugarh is an archaeological site located beside the Bidyadhari river, about 70 km north-east of Kolkata, India, in the district of North 24 parganas, near the township of Berachampa and the Harua Road railhead.
Years of excavation within 1957-68 (conducted by Asutosh Museum of Indian Art) have revealed relics of several historical periods, although the chronological classification of the relics remains incomplete.
According to some historians, the Chandraketugarh site and surrounding area could be the place known to ancient Greek and Roman writers as having the same name as the river Ganges sometimes referred to as 'Gangaridai'.

The mound of Khana-Mihir or Barahamihir on Prithiba road, Berachampa (Chandraketugarh ruins).
Excavated Brick Structure of Khana-Mihir Mound, Chandraketugarh, Berachampa, North 24 parganas district.
The legend of Khana (A medieval Bengali language poet and legendary astrologer between the ninth and 12th centuries AD, also named Lilavati elsewhere) centers around her association with Chandraketugarh (here, a mound has been discovered amongst ruins with the names of Khana and Mihir associated with it) and that she was the daughter-in-law of the famous astronomer and mathematician, Varāhamihira (505 – 587), also called Varaha or Mihira, a jewel among Chandragupta II Vikramaditya's famed Navaratna sabha.
It is widely believed that Khana was Varahamihira's daughter-in-law, and an accomplished astrologer, becoming thereby a potential threat to Varahamihira's scientific career. However, she exceeded him in the accuracy of her predictions, and at some point, either her husband (or father-in-law) or a hired hand (or possibly Khana herself under great duress) cut off her tongue to silence her prodigious talent.
There is another heritage mosque in the name of Pir Gorachand (an Arab missionary of 14th century named Syed Abbas Ali.

Clive House , Dum Dum
#CliveHouse on Rashtraguru Avenue is one of the oldest buildings in Bengal. In earlier times it was known as #DumDum House, later it came to be known as burra kothi or the grand house.
The house at Dum Dum was thought to have been acquired by Clive either shortly before the battle of Plassey in 1757 as an operational base, or after his success during negotiations; Dum Dum House, 'an old property on a mound', is mentioned several times by contemporary historian Robert Orme (including a sketch diagram from 1756). After that Clive took over the bungalow and combined the existing Indian architecture with European designs. Clive House is a famous historical place. It may unearth a 1300-year old city beneath Kolkata. This is a famous archeological site. The origin of the Clive House, also known as Burra Kothi, still remains a mystery. The passage extends to a canal connected to the famous Motijheel of Dum Dum.

Chandraketugarh is an archaeological site located beside the Bidyadhari river, about 35 kilometres (22 mi) north-east of Kolkata, in the district of North 24 parganas, near the township of Berachapa and the Harua Road and railways.Years of excavation within 1957-68 (conducted by Asutosh Museum of Indian Art) have revealed relics of several historical periods, although the chronological classification of the relics remains incomplete.
Chandraketugarh features many examples of terracotta art, displaying an unusual degree of precision and craftsmanship. These plaques are comparable to those found at other better-known sites such as Kaushambi and Ahichhatra. The terracotta plaques from these sites often carry similar motifs executed in nearly identical fashion. This similarity suggests an established communication link and common cultural heritage among these sites.
The legend of Khana (A medieval Bengali language poet and legendary astrologer between the ninth and 12th centuries AD, also named Lilavati elsewhere) centers around her association with Chandraketugarh (here, a mound has been discovered amongst ruins with the names of Khana and Mihir associated with it) and that she was the daughter-in-law of the famous astronomer and mathematician, Varāhamihira (505 – 587), also called Varaha or Mihira, a jewel among Chandragupta IIVikramaditya's famed Navaratna sabha.
Dhanyakuria is famous for being the home of various noble families of bengal, including the Sahoo House, Gayen Rajbari and Samaddhar Rajbari or Palace.
All these places can be explore within a day.
