Chandubi lake is one of the nine important lakes in Assam. The lake, located along the border between #Assam and #Meghalaya. #Guwahati to Chandubi is 65 km. #Chandubi is an embodiment of peace and tranquillity nestled at the foot of surrounding green hills. The lake comes into prominence owing to its environs, myriad flora and fauna, birds, algae, fishes, turtles and of course the migratory winged friends.

Chandubi came into existence as a result of the devastating earthquake that occurred on June 12th, 1897. The magnitude of the earthquake was 8.7 on the Richter scale.

How to get Chandubi:
Chandubi lies about 65 kms away from Guwahti. There are two road , one is from Mirza and another is from Rani (Inside forest) . I prefer to go from Rani to see the view. Do hire a car to visit there,
One can stay at night or spent the full day and come back in the evening. Chandubi Jungle camp , Home stay is available .
What you will look out for at Chandubi:
First have a relaxed view of the splendid lake– its myriad trees, climbing plants, the hills, the birds etc. Then you can opt for a boat trip to criss-cross the waterscape. Boats are manned by able-bodied young men from the neighbourhood. You can go on fishing as well if you count that among your prioreities. Wild elephants can accost you some times, more than fifty in a herd if you are fortunate enough. Photograph the flocks of Herons, Wood-ducks so as to make the ephemeral permanent.
Bornijora Waterfall , Jhalkat waterfall , Chandubi Festival: Chandubi Fest was launched in 2010–11 that begins on 1st January every year and ends on the 5th , Orchid Garden , Village walk .

Chandubi lake is formed after an earthquake. Prior to it it was a home for many. But after earthquake few islands were left and now it’s a home for many.
Chandubi is 60kms from Guwahati main city that it 1 hour drive. The places has a lot of greenery and scenic beauty.

Chandubi lake is a natural lake located in Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council, Kamrup District Assam at a distance of 64km away from Guwahati. The lake is located at the foot of Garo hills surrounded by Assam and Meghalaya .The area is covered by deep forest. It is a natural sightseeing and picnic spot. This lake is formed by an earthquake.
Chandubi lake is a tourist destination with some tourists visiting the lake during the Changdubi festival in the first week of January. In this festival, local village people perform their traditional dance forms, and traditional food stalls.
There are local homestays,Chandubi Eco -Resort and Chandubi Tourist Lodge at Chandubi lake.

Chandubi lake is about 70 kms from Guwahati, Route passes through Guwahati airport. This place is popular for the lake as well as Rabha tribe population in this area.

Dates we travelled to Assam : 1st March 2019 to 18th March 2019. For the first 5 days we travelled in Guwahati to places around middle and lower Assam then on 6th March we left Guwahati

Chandubi Lake is a natural lake near Guwahati, at a distance of about 64 kms.Located at the foot of Garo hills surrounded by both Assam and Meghalaya.Fishing and boating facilities are available here. It is a nice place for picnics and natural sight seeing. This lake attracts sizable amount of migratory birds during winter.November to April is the best time to visit.
On New Years Eve, the Chandubi festival starts which is held for about a week. Apart from treating the visitors with traditional Rabha and Garo dance, the organizers arrange for party to those who visit this place for a picnic...
