I was surprised and honored to receive a reception and award of thanks from the city at the new history museum. It was amazing to see how they used the image to create the various museum displays. News Story: Receiving Honors at the Changzhou History Museum, China
News story from Changzhou, China covering the visit of our delegation from Oak Hall School to their new history museum. I was being honored for discovering an ancient Qing Dynasty scroll which depicted their city and presenting an image of the scroll which the museum used in several displays. I am happy the people of Changzhou were so excited by this and honored by their show of appreciation. It is in Chinese, but listen for Ponze, Oka-Hall, Changzhou Fu, and Kangxi (Emperor) and you'll get the gist.

Designing An Inhabited Sculptural Form: The Wujin Lotus Conference Center, Changzhou China
In Hindu, Buddhist and Egyptian religions, the Lotus is considered a sacred flower as it symbolizes the potential of awakening, spiritual growth, and enlightenment, and the flower grows from subterranean mud toward aboveground warmth and light. Many believe that humans are like Lotus flowers: the conditions producing life are not always ideal, but those circumstances do not stop the Lotus, and should not stop the person, from rising through adversity, opening its essence to the sun.
With those ideas in mind, The Wujin Lotus Conference Center is constructed in the image of a Lotus flower. The building is situated on a 30,000 square foot artificial lake, close to an eight-acre park in the city of Changzhou.
The Lotus Conference Center was conceived, according to the architectural firm, as an inhabited sculptural form, emerging naturally from the lake. It is home to public galleries, and conference facilities.
Geothermal energy pile foundations are an alternative energy source for heating and cooling needs. Year ‘round, this geothermic heat exchange system reduces air conditioning costs for both the Lotus above and the two-story building beneath the lake. The lotus is also naturally ventilated and utilizes evaporative cooling from the lake’s surface.
