Trogir - Croatia's Coastal Historical Marvel - Timelapse Video - 4K
Trogir, Dalmatia’s hidden gem is a remarkable small town with 2300 years of tradition, set on a small island on the Adriatic coast of Croatia in the center of Dalmatia. Hiding not so far away from Split, only 27 km, it is connected to the mainland and with another island, Ciovo with bridges. The historic city center is under the protection of UNESCO since 1997, recognized as a true example of urban continuity, an old town with a number of intact Renaissance and Baroque buildings and churches from the Venetian period.

Lyrics:
I always thought that I was there for you,
I always thought that you were mine
I'd take you places take you far away,
Far away seems fine
And when I think of us
I always feel so close,
Never think of breaking the rules
And when I think of you
I always know you're true,
Never think of breaking the rules
I'd let you take me far away,
Even if no one understood
I'd take your hand and fly away,
Higher is how I feel like with you
What I said about going away
Only works with you
You opened my mind in so many ways
And in so many ways - I'm you
And when you think of us,
Do you ever feel so close?
Never think of thinking 'bout why?
And when you think of me,
I hope you know I'm true,
Never think of thinking 'bout why?
I'd let you take me far away,
Even if no one understood
I'd take your hand and fly away,
Higher is how I feel like with you

Mljet island. Croatia
Mljet island. Monastery of Saint Mary. Croatia (2011).
Mljet (pronounced [mʎɛ̂t]; Latin: Melita, Italian: Meleda) is the most southerly and easterly of the larger Adriatic islands of the Dalmatia region of Croatia. The National Park includes the western part of the island, Veliko jezero, Malo jezero, Soline Bay and a sea belt 500 m wide from the most prominent cape of Mljet covering an area of 54 km2. The central parts of the park are Veliko jezero with the Isle of St. Mary, Malo jezero and the villages of Goveđari, Polače and Pomena. Mljet was discovered by ancient Greco-Roman geographers, who wrote the first records and descriptions. The island was first described by Scylax of Caryanda in the 6th century BC; others prefer the text, Periplus of Pseudo-Scylax. In both texts, it is named Melite and supported by Apollonius of Rhodes.Agathemerus and Pliny the Elder call the island Melita.[5] Agesilaus of Anaxarba in Cilicia, the father of Oppian, was banished to Mljet by the Roman Emperor Septimius Severus (AD 145–211)(or to Malta by Lucius Verus: see Oppian). Mljet is mentioned around 950 by the Byzantine Emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogenitos in his Of Ruling an Empire as one of the islands held by the Narentines. The island was often a controversy of ownership between them and Zachlumia until the stronger unifications of the Serbian realm in the 12th century.[citation needed]
Mljet has been regarded as the Melita on which Saint Paul was shipwrecked (Acts of the Apostles 27:39–28:11), this view being first expounded in the 10th century, by Eastern Roman Emperor Constantine Porphyrogenitus. Saint Paul's shipwreck is generally placed on the Mediterranean island of Malta. Mljet and Malta had the same name in the Greek and Roman sources; the mention of a viper in Acts 28:3–5 was thought to be in favour of Mljet (but there are snakes on both Mljet and Malta). A harbour named after the Saint exists on both islands.
The Benedictines from Pulsano in Apulia became the feudal lords of the island in 1151, having come from Monte Gargano in Italy. They came ashore in the Sutmiholjska cove and in 1187–1198 the Serbian Prince Desa of the House of Vojislavljević built and donated to them the Church and Monastery of Saint Mary on the islet in the Big Lake (Veliko Jezero) towards the north-west end of the island. Pope Innocent III issued a document consecrating the church in 1198.
The Benedictines renounced their rule over Mljet in 1345, keeping only a third of the land. The island got a statute and a municipality in Babino Polje. It was formally annexed by the Republic of Ragusa in 1410. According to the Contract with the Benedictines, the municipality had to pay 300 perpers each year. In the 16th century, the monastery was the center of the Mljet Congregation (Congregatio Melitensis or Melitana), gathering all the monasteries of Benedictine monks in the area of the Republic of Ragusa. The first president of the Congregation was Mavro Vetranović, the abbot of the Mljet monastery and the famous poet. Another great poet was abbot there—Ignjat Đurđević in the 18th century. As time went by, the Benedictine monastery on Mljet lost its importance, while the seat of the Mljet Congregation moved to Sveti Jakov near Ragusa.
In 1809, during the rule of Napoleon, the Mljet monastery was disbanded. When Austria took over the island, it placed the forestry office in the building. Between the world wars, the building was owned by the Ragusa (Dubrovnik) Bishopric. In 1960 it became a hotel, and in 1998 it was returned to the bishopric.
The island has a long history of eco-damage. In order to ease their transport problems, the monks dug a channel to the south coast, from the lake Veliko Jezero, thus turning both fresh-water lakes into seawater-based ones.
The second incident involves mongooses. Small Asian mongooses were introduced onto the island in the early 20th century in order to reduce the venomous snake population (the island was apparently completely overrun). Whilst the mongooses completed this task, they also disposed of pretty much all the birdlife of the island. To this day, the island is notably short of hedgerow birds such as sparrows. Mongooses are a hazard for domestic poultry, and are also known to cause damage in vineyards and orchards.

Poreč/Parenzo (Latin: Parens or Parentium; Italian: Parenzo; Ancient Greek: Πάρενθος Pàrenthos) is a town and municipality on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula, in Istria County, Croatia. Its major landmark is the 6th-century Euphrasian Basilica, which in 1997 was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The town of Poreč/Parenzo is almost 2,000 years old and is set around a harbor protected from the sea by the small island of Sveti Nikola/San Nicola (Saint Nicholas). The town's population of approximately 12,000 resides mostly on the outskirts, while the wider Poreč/Parenzo area has a population of approximately 17,000 inhabitants. The municipal area covers 142 square kilometers (55 sq mi), with the 37 kilometers (23 miles) long shoreline stretching from the Mirna River near Novigrad/Cittanova to Funtana and Vrsar/Orsera in the south. Ever since the 1970s, the coast of Poreč/Parenzo and neighboring Rovinj has been the most visited tourist destination in Croatia.

Postcards From Dalmatia is a colorful 1960s travel film promoting tourism along the coast of what is now Croatia and Montenegro.
The film opens with titles printed over painted scenes and a buoyant folk song. Notable crew includes cinematographer Arthur Wooster, director Adrian de Potier, and narrator James McKechnie. A busy train station is crowded with tourists (0:33). The film cuts to a small cruise ship, the S.S. Jadrolinija, bound from Venice for islands off the coast of then-Yugoslavia. Tourists relax in deckchairs, we hear their voices in the form of imaginary letters to folks back home. The view shifts to the harbor at Rijeka and then Opatija, showing multi-decked bathing piers, shots of tourists on the beach (2:52), and a large seaside slide (3:20). The film cuts to a small fishing boat travelling among islands as a tourist describes the great time he’s had fishing with some locals. A small island restaurant is shown, “a quaint little stone box on the edge of the sea” (5:38). A fisherman is shown mending nets (6:00). Jazzy music kicks in and tourists are shown sunbathing (6:23). A young man describes himself as newly “a man of the world,” and lists adjectives for the nationalities of various lady vacationers. The montage of women ends with a water-skier and swinging flute as the young man enthuses he’s ready to “go man, go” (7:22). The film cuts to scenic natural views (7:36), young people are shown swimming and diving in an idyllic river. The film moves to Šibenik, “for those who want to rub a little culture into their suntan.” The exterior of a 15th century cathedral is shown in detail (8:31) including medieval sculptures and a frieze of heads, some of which are shown in close up (9:22). The film moves to Split, and the estate of modern sculptor Ivan Meštrović. The palace of Diocletian is shown, with crowds of tourists. Ancient Roman sculptures are shown (11:04), and bathing beaches (11:29). 1960s cars and tents are shown, a suburban “motor camp” (11:50). Boat travel runs to Hvar (12:15), with a white stone harbor and Venetian winged lions. Fashionably outfitted women in bathing suits are shown lounging on beaches while men skin dive. Smooth jazz sounds cut in as the view shifts to scenic outdoor dining. A hydroplane is shown in action (14:35). The film moves to Dubrovnik, its history and the structure of its ancient walls is shown and discussed (14:54). An ancient Franciscan monastery, the city’s central thoroughfare, and the old harbor are shown. The small village of Čilipi is shown, unmarried women parading in traditional clothing. A boat of tourists is treated to traditional Serbian music as they sail from Kotor to Budva (18:53). Budva’s ancient architecture is shown, along with the dining room of a more modern hotel (19:12). The tiny historic islet town of Sveti Stefan is shown flocked with tourists. A guitar-driven folk song kicks in with a brief montage of scenic island views, and the film ends.

Chorwacja 2017 - Park Narodowy Krka / Solaris Beach Resort Camping - majówka część 3/3
Prezentujemy finalną trzecią część naszej wyprawy objazdowej do Chorwacji.
Z Zadaru ruszyliśmy wczesnym rankiem do Narodowego Parku Krka.

Description in english:
We present the final third part of our tour to Croatia.
From Zadar we ride early in the morning to Krka National Park. Awesome impressions, but not enough to match the Plitvice Lakes. The main attraction in this park is the waterfall Skradinski Buk under which in the season you can bathe and shoot good photos. Unfortunately probably because of the icy water bathed there during the May was forbidden. We can get to the park by boat that floats from time to time, or by walk along the picturesque cliffs. I recommend visiting this place. After a few hours of sightseeing, we went back to the small town of Skradlin, we recommend to take a moment and walk down the city, where we will see a nice little harbor, and on, at the highest point of the city, ruins of the fort which also serve as a viewpoint for the nearby terrain . Okay, we pack our bags and ride for a well deserved break at the Solaris Beach Resort camp, which is located on the edge of the town called Sibenik. After small adventures at the front desk we go for a walk in the camp. We spend the next few days lazing on the beaches and swimming in pools where the water was much warmer than the sea water which in this period was unfortunately icy - but we did not mind a quick bath: D And after that unfortunately, it was time to leave :( We packed our car and went to Poland where we were welcomed by rain ...
We hope you enjoyed each of the episodes. If so, we encourage you to leave the like and subscribe - it really motivates :)
