Scottish Highlands (Part 6) Day Six - Bottlenose Dolphins at Chanonry Point, Fortrose, Black Isle
27th May 2016. The highlight of this Scottish Highlands one week break happened on this day - watching bottlenose dolphins live in the sea! It was such an amazing experience and special moment to watch the Dolphins swimming into the bay, so near to us! We had very good advise from a wild life photographer on the timing to see them. We set out at 8am and arrived at Chanonry Point at 9am just before the tides came in. This was the time that Dolphins came into the bay to catch fish. There was a mother dolphin with her baby by her side. It was incredible to see them! Before you plan to go to see the Dolphins go onto Internet to check the time of tides. It's very important to check otherwise you will miss the chance to see the Dolphins. Good luck!
Chanonry Point Bottlenose Dolphins, Scotland
Chanonry Point lies at the end of Chanonry Ness, a spit of land extending into the Moray Firth between Fortrose and Rosemarkie on the Black Isle, Scotland.
One of the best spots in the UK to view bottlenose dolphins from the land particularly on an incoming tide when they play and fish in the strong currents. Other wildlife, including porpoises and grey seals, can also regularly be spotted. European otters are occasional visitors.
Filmed in 4k on a handheld DJI Mavic Pro as the wind was far too strong for flight.
I intend to come back in the summer of 2019 to fly the Mavic and try and get some closer shots from the air.

Scotland-Highlands-The Black Isle
The Black Isle is a peninsula on the other side of the Moray Firth from Inverness. A most lovely place for a day or two sightseeing and wandering, or for a longer stay for a more relaxing break. It's very easy to get lost, away from the world, and just revive!
