Premiere Botanical Garden Chanticleer Uses Soil Reef Biochar
Chanticleer (Wayne, PA) is a 35-acre public garden focused on native plants. I caught up with one of their seven horticulturalists, Przemek, to talk about how and why he uses biochar in his gardens.
Biochar is made by heating organic matter to high temperatures in the absence of oxygen, leaving behind a porous charcoal that can increase the soil's ability to hold water and nutrients.
What if we all came together to do something great? We're building a Soil Reef that will stretch from coast to coast, starting in your back yard.

Molihua - 2016 Lycoming College Tour Choir - Graduation Concert
The 2016 Lycoming College Tour Choir performs Molihua (Mo Li Hua) during the annual Graduation Concert on May 6, 2016. For more on the choir, visit
Molihua was arranged by Reed Criddle and is a popular Chinese folk song. The choir is directed by Dr. Christopher Jackson. The accompanist is Dr. Amanda Gunderson. Video filmed and provided by Mike Munford '88.
Conducted by Dr. Christopher Jackson, the Lycoming College Tour Choir has a long history of quality performances throughout the United States. Since its inception in 1947 by Walter McIver, the choir has presented concerts in every state east of the Mississippi River, Texas, California, Canada, Puerto Rico, Argentina, China, and throughout Europe. The choir tours nationally each year and internationally every three years.
In its seven decades of music, the Lycoming College Choir has performed hundreds of concerts including appearances at the National Cathedral, the Washington Shrine, the Crystal Cathedral, Coral Ridge, and New York City's St. John the Divine and St. Patrick's Cathedral. The choir has been featured twice in the Holiday Celebrations at the White House. The ensemble has sung with the Gregg Smith Singers, the Chieftains, and Barry Manilow. In 2013, the choir released its 10th CD, Favorites: 1976-2013, which chronicled selections from previous director Fred Thayer's tenure.
The Tour Choir is selected each year by competitive audition from the larger College Choir, which is comprised of students from all academic fields. Approximately 40 students are chosen annually to perform with the Tour Choir. Lycoming's third and smallest choral ensemble is the Chamber Choir, which performs a diverse repertoire ranging from vocal jazz to major works.
In May 2016, the Tour Choir traveled to China for the first time, performing concerts in Shanghai and Beijing. They also conducted workshops with a number of secondary schools' choirs in both cities. During the 2016-2017 academic year, the Tour Choir will perform a series of concerts in Florida.
Lycoming College is an independent coeducational college of 1,400 students enrolled in 36 majors. The College is ranked by U.S. News and World Report as a national liberal arts college. Located in Williamsport, PA, the college is affiliated with the United Methodist Church
