How to use the CHAO PHRAYA EXPRESS BOAT in Bangkok ( Co van Kessel Guide )
For more information: covankessel.com
In this video we explain you how to use the Chao Phraya Express Boat. This is a really convenient transport to use in Bangkok to beat the traffic and it’s also a lot of fun. Use the river in Bangkok instead of the busy streets and beat the traffic.
There are 5 different colored boats you can take, but to not confuse you, we only recommend 2 of them. The orange boat and the blue boat.
We use the example to use the Orange Flag Boat from N13 to N3 Si Phraya to get to our office at Co van Kessel
This video is part of a web series about Bangkok and in this series we show you how to get around in Bangkok, Thailand.

Looking for an authentic and unique adventure? Co van Kessel bike tours and boat tours provides a refreshing alternative to the tired tourist experience. We do not battle the crowds at clichéd destinations promoted in guide books, but turn your attention to quaint local communities and charming excursions into the fascinating lifestyle and culture of real Thai people. Every day is different and every tour is a surprise as we focus not on destinations, but lose ourselves in the enchantment of the journey itself.
Co van Kessel, an innovative and adventurous Dutchman, pioneered bicycle tours in Bangkok more than 30 years ago. As a longtime resident and self-professed lover of Bangkok, he understood very well the picture of accelerated urban development (gridlocked traffic, concrete towers, and choking pollution) that has plagued the recent image of the city. He also had a hunch that this was not what Bangkok or Thailand was all about.
Making it his goal to re-discover Bangkok, Co spent thousands of hours on his mountain bike exploring the vast network of local streets, alleyways, footpaths and canals between the main urban thoroughfares. What he found, lurking behind the facade of modernization, were hidden worlds of peace and tranquility, a picture of “real” Thai life that has remained unchanged for countless decades; an identity of a city that is true to the Thai people, yet largely unknown to outsiders.
Whether it’s the colorful sights and smells of the local markets, the fascinating life of locals along the canals, or the surprising existence of bountiful green belts, Co discovered the essence of what makes Bangkok one of Asia’s most captivating cities. Since then, it has been his mission to share these discoveries with the rest of the world.
What we do
Our mission at Co van Kessel Bangkok Tours is to provide our guests with a singularly unique travel experience in Thailand. All our tours use Co’s extensive topographical knowledge of the greater Bangkok area as well as his keen eye for the interesting to take you where nobody else can or will.
We aim not to bore you with talk, but to immerse you in an experience where your individual fascinations emerge.
Bicycles, boats, and our feet become the tools we use to gain access to the previously inaccessible, behind-the-scenes lifestyle of the Thai. Here the roots of an ancient culture will become evident in a way you never could have imagined.

Aboard the Chao Phraya Express Boat from Oriental pier to Wat Arun | Bangkok, Thailand
เรือด่วนเจ้าพระยา ชาวตะวันออก วัดอรุณ
When in Bangkok, avoid the crazy traffic jams and take a very convenient and cheap (but sometimes crowded ;-) cruise on the Chao Phraya River instead.
Upstream from Oriental past the French and Portuguese Embassies to Marine Department.
On past a series of pulled/pushed barges.
Crossing the river to the left bank to visit Wat Arun prang(s), garden and temple.
Heading back aboard our water taxi downstream again with detailed impressions of the disembarking and embarking procedures that happen within only a matter of seconds.
Encounter with a cute doggi who appears to live/work at Sathorn (Taksim).

How to ride the Chao Phraya River Express Boat, BANGKOK, THAILAND
Chao Phraya Express Boat Bangkok Thailand
The Chao Phraya Express Boat (Thai: เรือด่วนเจ้าพระยา Ruea Duan Chao Phraya) is a transportation service in Thailand operating on the Chao Phraya River. It provides riverine express transportation between stops in the capital city of Bangkok and to Nonthaburi, the province immediately to the north. Established in 1971, the Chao Phraya Express Boat Company serves both local commuters and tourists. It also offers special tourist boats and a weekend river boat tours, as well as offering boats available for charter.[1] Along with BTS Skytrain and Bangkok MRT, using the boats allows commuters to avoid traffic jams during the peak hours on weekdays.
The 21 kilometres (13 mi) route is served by 65 boats and operates from 06:00–21:30 (last departure from CEN-Sathorn pier of a yellow flagged boat) on weekdays and from 06:00–18:40 on weekends and holidays. Current prices are from THB10 (Local line for distance within one zone) to THB32 (for green-yellow flag trip on its entire route from Pakkret to Sathon), depending on the type of boat and the distance travelled.[2] The river boats carry an average of about 40,000 passengers per day.

Chao Phraya River - chao phraya express boat - Public Boat Journey , Bangkok, Thailand
Chao Phraya River tour:
Boats are a great way to get around the famous Riverside area with its many historical attractions, temples and architecture, and also to explore the 'klongs' (canals) for a glimpse of Bangkok from yesteryear. Several kinds of boats (express boats, river taxis and tail-boats) run up and down the Chao Phraya River, connecting with the local suburbs on the Thonburi side and along the river, while ferries can be used to cross the river at various points.
Long Tail Boats are available for private hire for a more personalized and fun journey along the Chao Phraya River and around the klongs (canals) on the Thonburi side of the side of the city.
The Chao Phraya river and many canals are a charming place where traces of history and traditional life can still be found today and can be explored with a long-tail boat.

IN TODAY'S EPISODE :
On day 8 in Bangkok, we’ve experienced our first tourist trap after our tour on the Chao Phraya Express Boat on the Chao Phraya River. We also attempted to visit Chinatown but failed to find it. Finally we booked our tickets to Chiang Mai only to find out that trains on Saturday were sold out and now, we’re leaving tomorrow for Northern thailand!
We ended up frustrated and back at Terminal 21 Mall for some diner before calling it a day.
