Old Culture in Chaozhou | SHANTOU
This is part 3 of a 3 part series of my stay in Shantou. In this video I look to the outskirts of the city, to an area called ChaoZhou. We visit a large home of a famous business man. We talk about his life, and the role of a wife on her wedding day. We also have an amazing dinner of beef hot pot!

Chaozhou, China 2018 - chapter 5!
In the summer of 2018, my family and I visited China for the first time.
From the hustle and bustle of Shanghai, we caught a flight to head south to my dad's home town, Chaozhou. Situated in the province of Guangdong, close to Shantou, we visited the West Lake Park, Kaiyuan temple, Paifang Street in the old town and the beautiful Guangji Bridge. Whilst we were there, we were exposed to the Chaozhou dialect, food and of course, Chinese tea!
In this video, I show you our highlights from our time there.

The oyster omelette (Chinese: 蚵仔煎; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: ô-á-chian) is a dish of Teochew origin that is widely known for its savoury taste in its native Chaoshan along with Fujian, Taiwan, and many parts of Southeast Asia such as the Philippines and Thailand due to the influence of the Teochew diaspora. Variations of the dish preside in some southern regions of China.
The oyster omelette is a Taiwanese night market favorite, and has constantly been ranked by many foreigners as the top dish from Taiwan. Its generous proportions and affordable price demonstrates the trait of night market cuisines.

is one of the most famous street foods in Taiwan.
It pronounced Oh-ah-jen in chinese and is very popular at Taiwan's night markets.
It has many of the elements of Taiwanese pantry like oysters, chinese greens, tapioca starch and umami sauce.
