Chapel Carn Brea is an elevated Hercynian granite outcrop, owned by the National Trust at the southern edge of the civil parish of St Just, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom.The hill is 5 kilometres south of St Just and 3.5 kilometres east of Sennen Cove, and just to the north of the A30 London to Land's End road, which runs through the village of Crows-an-Wra.It should not be confused with another Carn Brea, the hill overlooking the Camborne–Redruth area.Chapel Carn Brea is often described as the first hill in Cornwall and rises 198 metres above sea level.

Exploring Cornwall - Carn Brea Castle and Monument.
Today the lovely Mark Sellwood takes me up to Carn Brea to look at the castle and the monument.
Carn Brea Castle stands near the top of the hill. It is built on the site of a chapel built in 1379 probably dedicated to St Michael. It was built in the 18th century by the Basset family as a hunting lodge. It is considered to be a folly built on the huge uncut boulders that make up part of its foundations, giving the impression of the building melting into the land.
At the highest point of the hill is a 90-feet high Celtic cross erected as a monument to Francis Basset, 1st Baron de Dunstanville and Basset (1757–1835). Basset, a mine owner, gained his titles for erecting earthworks to defend Plymouth from combined French and Spanish fleets in 1779, and suppressing a miners' food riot in 1785. Along with others, he petitioned the House of Lords against slavery in 1828.

This my first video for this channel and this one is a video of a scenic walks around Redruth Carn Brea sorry I say Camborne Carn Brea but I sat Carn Brea leisure centre is in pool and that part of Redruth and Camborne and I say that because Camborne college but that has a Redruth address but it is next to Camborne.

Camborne, Cornwall
Camborne (Kammbronn in Cornish) is a town in West Cornwall which grew through mining. During the 19th century, the town was quite literally, along with its neighbouring town of Redruth which is separated from Camborne by Pool, the mining world capital. Still today, remnants of mine shafts and adits are still located all over the town. Camborne was also the richest mining area in the world.
As well as mining, Camborne was where the steam locomotive was invented, which founded modern day cars. This hugely important invention was made by Richard Trevithick, who was born nearby in the small hamlet of Tregajorran, below Carn Brea, and was tested along Fore Street, which is often nicknamed as Camborne Hill.
Camborne Town Centre is based largely on Trelowarren Street but also on Commercial Street.
In 2013, Camborne's population was 21,600. Camborne, Pool and Redruth all join together to make Cornwall's larger urban area. This shouldn't be confused for Cornwall's largest town, which is St Austell.
The name 'Camborne' means 'Crooked Hill' and derives from it's 12th century name of 'Cambron' which is in turn derived from its Cornish language name of 'Kammbronn'.
All of Camborne's mines have now closed down and the towns main industry is now retail, just like nearby Pool.

I was here today to do some videos and it was such a beautiful sunny day and this must be one of the most attractive settings for a chapel i have ever seen,right in the heart of the cornish countryside with its own cemetery built in 1879.

The 1855 Holdich Organ of St Euny Church Redruth Cornwall 4/07/2012
Here today at the Parish Church of Redruth,St Euny, This organ was not originally built for this church but came from another church in the centre of the town, i believe it was the chapel of ease church which closed many years ago & now has been turned into flats,This organ is a fine example of the organ builder G.M Holdich George Maydwell Holdich, 1855, restored by G Osmond in 1958 & was in the care of Neil Hosken & now Lance Foy,It has a fairly large Gt which used to have a 8ft Trumpet & a Cremona 8ft both have been replaced by a Quint & a 15ft,The Sw has just five stops & the pedal section has been extended, it still is a typical organ built by Holdich,very unromantic & good for playing Bach One of my youtube organists friends Richard has played an organ slightly similar in the very town were Holdich was born,as far as i know this is the only organ in Cornwall built by him ?
