CHAPULTEPEC CASTLE | Mexico City ????????
This beautiful Castle in the middle of Chapultepec Park was one of my favorite sights in Mexico City.
We didn’t make it on time before the castle closed the first time we went, but I refused to leave Mexico without seeing inside this beautiful landmark. Definitely worth it!
5 AWESOME FACTS ABOUT CASTILLO DE CHAPULTEPEC:
1. It was a FILM LOCATION for the Academy Award-nominated movie William Shakespeare's ROMEO + JULIET (1996) starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. Many views of the castle as the CAPULET MANSION can be seen throughout the film.
2. It has a HEIGHT OF 2,325 METERS (7,628 feet) above sea level.
3. The site of the hill was a SACRED PLACE FOR AZTECS, and the buildings atop it have served several purposes during its history, including that of Military Academy, Imperial residence, Presidential home, observatory, and presently, the National Museum of History.
4. It is the only royal castle in North America that was actually used as the residence of a sovereign: the MEXICAN EMPEROR Maximilian I, and his consort/ wife EMPRESS Carlota, lived there during the Second Mexican Empire.
5. In the VIDEO GAME Ghost Recon (2006): Advanced Warfighter, a level existed in and around this castle.

Joseph and I went to Mexico City in September 2019!
In this video, we visit the Chapultepec Castle! Or also known as Castillo de Chapultepec. We spent 75 MXN Pesos for a single ticket. We probably spent about an hour or so at the Castle just walking around and soaking in all of the history and artwork. There are some amazing views of Mexico City at the top which I recommend to see for yourself!
As always, thank you for watching! & if you enjoyed this video, please don’t forget to give it a thumbs up, comment, and to share it with a friend! Yay!

Chapultepec Castle (in Spanish: Castillo de Chapultepec) is the only real royal castle in all of the Americas. Built during colonial Spanish times, it is on a hill in Chapultepec Park, a sacred part of Mexico City going back to Aztec times. Today, it is one of the largest city parks in the Western Hemisphere.

A CASTLE IN MEXICO?! | Eileen Aldis
Something I did not expect to find while travelling in Mexico was a castle! Castillo de Chapultepec or Chapultepec Castle has a long history as a sacred place for the Aztecs to the Niños Héroes (Hero Children) who defended it in the Battle of Chapultepec during the Mexican-American War to being the set of the Capulet Mansion in Baz Luhrmann's 1996 film Romeo & Juliet starring Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio. The castle is also the only ever royal residence in North America, having been inhabited by Emperor Maximilian I and his wife Empress Carlota when it was still on the outskirts of Mexico City. Nowadays it is also the home of the National Museum of History and provides incredible views of Paseo de la Reforma and surrounding Chapultepec Park.

In the second part we will explore several other places to visit in Mexico City.
The Palacio de Bellas Artes (The Palace of the Fine Arts) is Mexico City's most important cultural complex - a gem of Mexico City Tourism. Some of the highlights include murals by famous Mexican muralists Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros. The Palace also houses a beautiful concert hall, which is home to the National Symphony Orchestra.
A bit further out of the city center, lies Chapultepec Castle (Castillo de Chapultepec). This is where Emperor Maximilian I had his residence. The castle used to be the home of several Mexican presidents and today houses the National Museum of History.
Finally, a part of the Mexico experience that should not be missing in any Mexico travel guide, is the wonderful traditional Mexican food. Tortilla, Guacamole and Tacos might be the more prominent member of the Mexican cuisine, but there is much more.
One of the highlights that you could try is a Mexican dish called 'Chile En Nogada', a dish traditionally served during Mexico's Independence Day.
