Millésima presents chateau Haut-Bages Libéral:
In 1855 château Haut Bages Libéral was recognised as the fifth cru classé of the Pauillac appellation, finally gaining recognition for its wine and its terroir of deep gravel-based soils and chalky clay. The wine-growing tradition on this estate, however, dates back to the 18th century. More than two centuries later, in 1983, the Villars family took over the estate with its 30 hectare vineyard.
The property certainly had all it needed to win over the Villars family and make them fall in love with the wines it produced. An enviable location on the Bages plateau, not far from the Gironde estuary - a considerable asset -- and with land bordering the famous Château Latour.
The estate is currently enthusiastically managed by Claire Villars-Lurton in the spirit of innovation, modernity and tradition, to produce a Pauillac that is refreshingly vigorous yet expertly balanced.

Château Haut Bages Monpelou - 2014 - Pauillac Cru Bourgeois tasted 100% blind by the Best Sommelier of the World, Andreas Larsson.
Medium to deep ruby red core. Generous nose offering some new wood, tobacco, graphite and cassis with sweet plum. The palate has good density and fine extraction, still a tannic presence but no harshness, juicy dark fruit, good grip and length, a classic style starting to open up but certainly with potential.

Ripe Fruit, Red Currant, Cedar Wood
Red wine with a medium towards deep ruby-red colour; offering some slightly, lighter colour at the rim. Quite intense and forward nose; showing some roasted aromas of roasted coffee, hint of wood, tobacco and dark berries. Palate is quite medium weight, I would say, classic medium weight, with a dense core of ripe fruit, such as red currant and dark berries, underlined by that really fine wood; with a roasted coffee, cedar wood. It has a tannic presence, but quite polished. Nicely persistent on the after taste. Good length there, persistent, in a rather classic style without too much concentrations, but it certainly has good potential for further development. Quite a stylish wine.

Dense dark ruby colour with a purple hue. Nice intensity on the nose, roasted coffee, fine wood, graphite, cassis and layers of dark fruit. Dense palate rather full and ample with high tannin, yet rounded without hard edges, fine integration of wood, juicy dark fruit, tobacco notes and a long elegant finish. Still a youthful wine meriting ageing but good potential.

Over 40 years of fine vintage wines at rare wine tasting of Yats Wine Cellars in Manila
Fans of Bordeaux red wines were finally given a great treat by Philippines leading supplier of fine and rare vintage wines Yats Wine Cellars on 9th August, 2011 in an exciting wine tasting event held in Ortigas, Metro Manila featuring vintage wines from Bordeaux spanning 50 years.
Wines were organized into five groups by age, 8 years per group. Some of the oldest wines in the lineup were over 40 years old and all were not only fully enjoyable but still vigorous and showing distinction.
Although wine is rapidly gaining popularity in the Philippines, Manila wine lovers feel deprived because they rarely get to taste matured vintage wines. Bored with drinking young wines that are nowhere near their prime, many Manila wine enthusiasts have urged Yats Wine Cellars -- the only wine supplier that carries matured vintage wines -- to hold a public wine tasting event to enable them to savor some genuine classics from Bordeaux at their maturity. Yats Wine Cellars finally agreed to hold a tasting and kept its admission ticket to an unbelievably affordable price of just p1,300. In fact, one can pay only php900 if purchased in advance.
Here was the lineup of wines served on the evening of 9th August, 2011 in the wine tasting of 40 years of vintage Bordeaux at Oakwood Premium Hotel in Ortigas, Metro Manila.

These seminars deal with intermediate to advanced subject matters that are aimed at providing useful and practical knowledge for the wine enthusiasts. Topics are focused and treatment, in depth. Most seminars include a guided tasting session after the lecture.
Wine-paired dinners are organized either at Y A T S Restaurant in Clark or in collaboration with other restaurants and organizers. Private wine dinners can also be organized for groups of 14 or more. Even Asian cuisines can be a part of a Yats Wine-paired dinner.
Sister company Y A T S Restaurant and Wine Lounge is one of most wine-sensitive fine-dining establishments in Asia. B Y O (Bring Your Own) Wine evenings occur regularly for wine enthusiasts to enjoy their recent finds over a gourmet meal specially crafted to be wine friendly.
