Château La Croizille - 2010 - Saint Emilion Grand Cru
Château La Croizille - 2010 - Saint Emilion Grand Cru tasted 100% blind by the Best Sommelier of the World, Andreas Larsson.
Dark Plum, Roasted Coffee Bean, Dark Cherry
Medium deep ruby-red colour. Still with a slight youthful hint of purple at the core. Modern nose here, with some roasted oak. Quite ripe fruit. Mostly dark plum, dark cherry. Slight hint of leather, dried spices. Good grip on the palate. Quite concentrated fruit. Good density of fruit, good weight. I would say the texture is already fairly rounded. There is tannic grip but well-integrated right now. Still a quite youthful and fresh acidity. Oak feels less marked on the palate than on the nose. There are some hints of roasted coffee bean, hint of vanilla on the finish. Quite long and substantial finish. I would say, a modern style wine. That offers pleasure already, but it should easily have five to eight year, if not more potential for development.

Château Cap De Mourlin - 2011 - Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé
Château Cap De Mourlin - 2011 - Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé tasted by The Best Sommelier of the World, Andreas Larsson.
Dark Plum, Dark Chocolate, Crushed Berry
Very dense core here, black-purple losing a little bit of colour towards the rim. Pure, quite intense. With ripe fruit more on the dark fruity side; like dark plum, some blackberry. A gentle hint of oak. I would say ripe, but still more in a classic style. Rather full-bodied here, with a high extract. Quite pronounced tannins at present. Slightly drying on the palate. The fruit is still quite present and particularly on the finish. I get more of this dark chocolate, dark plum, crushed berry flavours. So quite ripe yet with a slightly pronounced tannic sensation right now. Delicious fruit there, so chocolate coated dark fruit. Discreet oak and a long warm finish. A wine I still would like to put back for just one or two more years in the cellar or give a through decantation before drinking it. A good result that should drink pretty well in the near future.

Chateau Fleur Cardinale - 2012 - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé
Chateau Fleur Cardinale - 2012 - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé tasted by the Best Sommelier in the World Andreas Larsson.
New Wood, Vital Acidity, Dark Fruit
Very dense colour; inky black centre, coloured legs. Youthful intense nose, showing off some meaty notes, leather, plenty of dark fruit, vanilla, some new oak. The palate has a high concentration, plenty of extract. Tannins are still youthful but they’re rather ripe and will easily integrate in the wine over the coming years. Plenty of stuff going on here; new wood, vanilla, leather. Very dense palate, and despite that ripeness and richness it’s marked by a quite vital acidity, it’s fresh all along. Fairly well-integrated oak as well. It’s just the tannins that feel a bit present now, but once again it’s quality tannins that add freshness and length. Very long finish, good persistence. Very good material for further aging.

Deep core and a ruby rim. Toasted nose, ripe dark fruit, plum cake and dry spices. Medium weight on the palate, fresh acidity, wild berries and plum, still a youthful texture with a tannic grip but good length. Should improve from some ageing.

Château Fonplegade - 2013 - Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé tasted by the Best Sommelier in the World Andreas Larsson.
Dark Plum, Full-Bodied, Freshness
Red wine with a very youthful appearance here, completely opaque colour. Pure nose, indicating a quite high ripeness, with plenty of dark fruit. Still in a very youthful phase so it’s not revealing so much, but notes of dark plum, blackberry. Not so much oak; there’s a hint in the background, but it’s really the fruit dominating here. Quite massive in terms of structure, very dense, rich and full-bodied; however I think the extract is rather soft, it’s really combining that high density of ripe dark fruit with a good level of freshness, so I think it’s pretty drinkable in terms of its texture right now, no hard angles despite being youthful. However, I think this is a wine that will gain more aromatic complexity and nuance from further aging. I’d say it’s a very potent wine that should deserve another few years to open up, but well-made, good combination between that concentration and freshness.

Sweet Wild Berries, Pepper, Liquorice
Medium deep ruby-red colour, still with a youthful purple hue. Beginning to lose some of that youthful intensity. Fine nose here. There is an elegant toastiness, fine oak. Almost like some roasted nuts. I think this is starting to approach some kind of maturity. I pick up a slight hint of black truffle that I adore. A lot of sweet, wild berry fruit, with dark plum. Good bite on the palate here, very generous fruit, high ripeness, but no jamminess. It is really about sweet wild berries, with a good level of freshness. There are some spicy hints of pepper, liquorice. Wood is well-integrated as well. Long and juicy finish. Quite high level of extract but finely grained, nothing is harsh or angular today. This is very approachable and enjoyable. With this structure, it will certainly go on for quite a few years.

Château Trotte Vieille - 2007 - Saint Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé
Château Trotte Vieille - 2007 - Saint Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé tasted by the Best Sommelier in the World Andreas Larsson.
Red Fruit, Coffee, Full-bodied
Red wine with a quite developed colour here, it is ruby core with a tawny rim appearing quite mature. The nose it is also displaying maturing here, with notes of slightly dried fruit here, with leather, some notes of mocha, some roasted notes, a hint of wood and tobacco as well. A certain complexity for sure. Palate is rather on the full bodied side, but it has gotten a soft texture now, rounded tannin there and I think everything is in place there. Really soft and slightly coffee infused red fruit, with some notes of leather. Quite long finish with this spicy complexity going on, on the final. Still with a quite youthful acidity to it. A wine that has reached good level of maturity to enjoy today not really for further keeping.
