Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion in the Bordeaux area, Château La Dominique is facing the vineyard of Pomerol and benefits from an exceptionnal location along Château Cheval Blanc, Figeac, La Conseillante or l'Evangile. The property combines successfully the authentic and the modern : nice 18th C. mansion stands opposite to the modern style winery designed by French architect Jean Nouvel. From March 2014 the visitor will live a deep wine experience : visit, tasting and gastronomy stand on the outstanding terrasse overlooking the vineyard.

Bordeaux France Château Ripeau (Grand Cru Classé) Vineyard in Saint-Émilion
French Friday's with Will Roadhouse: Located just an hour outside of Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion is one of the most beautiful ancient cities I've ever visited! The wines here in Chateau Ripeau (Grand Cru Classé) are one of the best wines I've ever tasted!!!
Chateau Ripeau has a long history in the appellation, with vines being planted in the 1700’s. The vineyard does not begin to gain notice until 1868. However, the modern era for Chateau Ripeau begins in 1917, when it was purchased by the family of a well-known Bordeaux wine negociant, Marcel and Marie Loubat. If the Loubat name sounds familiar to you, the answer is yes, they are from the same Loubat family that owned Petrus. Chateau Ripeau has remained in the same family since that time. Chateau Ripeau takes its name from parcel of land the vineyard and chateau are located on. The vineyard has good neighbors as the vines are not located not far from Chateau Cheval Blanc, Chateau Corbin and Chateau La Dominique and close to the Pomerol border.
The 15.3 hectare, Right Bank vineyard of Chateau Ripeau is planted to 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Located not far from La Dominique and Chateau Chauvin, the terroir is sand, gravel, limestone and clay with iron deposits in the soil. The average age of the vines is close to 35 years of age.
To produce the wine of Chateau Ripeau, the wine is vinified in temperature controlled, stainless steel vats. The wine is aged in 33% new, French oak barrels for between 12 and 16 months. On average 5,000 cases of Chateau Ripeau are produced every vintage. There is a second wine, La Garenne de Ripeau.

History of St. Emilion: St. Emilion could be the oldest active wine producing appellation in the Bordeaux region with a history that dates back to the times of the ancient Romans. Numerous Roman ruins are scattered all over the St. Emilion appellation. While St. Emilion claims credit for the being the home of the famous Roman poet and wine lover, Decimus Magnus Ausonius, (who served as the inspiration for the name of the now famous, Chateau Ausone) the area takes its name from a Benedictine Monk who was known as Emilian. Emilian lived in the area and is responsible for starting to create the uniquely designed, limestone church that is central the village of St. Emilion. Today, the village of St. Emilion is a protected, Unesco, world heritage site. St. Emilion also lays claim to having the oldest, wine society in France. The Jurade of St Emilion was formed in 1199! St. Emilion was the first region in Bordeaux to export their wines. Due to the ease of shipping taking place in the 14th century, with only a few vines scattered in the Medoc, St. Emilion wine was already being shipped to England at the request of King Edward. This date coincides with the founding of the commercial city of Libourne by the British. The city of Libourne has another connection with England, it was named Sir Roger de Leybourne from England.

Au Moyen Age les Moines Cisterciens créèrent en ce lieu un Prieuré qu'ils nommèrent « La Grâce Dieu ». En 1946 cette propriété de 6 hectares fut achetée par Pierre Dubreuilh, viticulteur et propriétaire du « Château Bouffevent » à Lamonzie St Martin en Dordogne. Il transmit ensuite Le «Château La Grâce Dieu» à sa fille Marcelle qui avec son mari Maurice PAUTY agrandirent et firent prospérer cette exploitation. Leur fils Christian PAUTY prit le relais en 1985 et fut rejoint par ses filles Christine et Valérie qui gèrent aujourd'hui le vignoble.

Vignoble du Château Jean Faure situé dans le secteur Nord-Ouest de l'appellation, à côté de Cheval Blanc, La Dominique et des voisins de Pomerol (La Conseillante, L'Evangile).
Il a l'avantage de détenir un encépagement à très forte proportion de Cabernet Franc lui conférant une grande finesse. A ceci s'ajoute un âge assez élevé des plantations.
La Rose Perrière
Propriété familiale située sur la commune de Lussac, La Rose Perrière en est l’une des plus anciennes de l’appellation.
Au 12ème siècle la Comtesse de Castillon fit construire l’Abbaye Cistercienne de Faize aux Artigues de Lussac à quelques kilomètres de La Rose Perrière. A l’époque, les moines défrichaient la forêt et plantèrent autour de la propriété les premières vignes.
C’est pour la richesse de son histoire mais aussi son terroir argilo calcaire exceptionnel que Jean Luc sylvain est tombé sous le charme de cette propriété atypique.
Jean Luc Sylvain a vu naître sa passion de son grand père, Pierre qui en 1961 faisait l’acquisition de ses premières vignes. De ces parcelles, la propriété produit le grand cru « Les grandes Versannes » sous l’appellation saint Emilion.
La Rose Perrière produit 6 vins sous 4 appellations (Saint Emilion, Lussac, Côtes de Bordeaux et Bordeaux Blanc), exclusivement élevés dans des barriques Sylvain.
Grâce à un savoir-faire familial et à leurs connaissances, c’est une partie de la famille Sylvain qui œuvre aujourd’hui pour produire des vins de qualité. En effet, il y a peu Claire, Ingénieur en chimie biologie et Rémi, diplômé de l’Ecole Supérieure du Bois, ont choisi eux aussi de marcher dans les pas de leur père et apportent leur pierre à l’édifice tant à la Tonnellerie qu’à la propriété.
Unis par la même passion, Jean Luc et ses enfants travaillent ensemble afin de produire des vins qui leur ressemblent.

A 14-acre vineyard planted with a dominance of Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc has produced a ripe, perfumed wine. Still showing its wood aging, it will nevertheless develop well, emphasizing the ripe black-currant fruits and jammy richness.

Inky Dark Fruit, Dark Cherry, Plum
Extremely youthful here, almost black, probably needs time to develop. Nice purity on the nose here, rather on the fruity side. High ripeness, wild berry fruit, blackberry, cassis, not a lot of oak; there’s a few leafy herbal notes. Quite concentrated on the palate, but a nice concentration. The extraction is pretty supple here, not a lot of hardness or any tannic sensation; fine tannin, good density of that fruit again, dark fruity. Fine spiciness, just some gentle notes of vanilla. Well-kept freshness, and a pretty long finish. Rather elegant style with a good concentration, good purity of fruit; and I would say pretty accessible today, even if it’s a wine that will certainly develop well from some further aging.
