Château de Hautefort, Dordogne, France
A real-life travel video by Travel Flix.
The Château de Hautefort is a singular Baroque chateau in southern France. The generous support of anonymous patrons, and an active preservation society, allow public access. Inside, many rooms are available to explore, each carefully furnished in representative styles.
You'll explore the grand rooms, chapels, and even the basements and kitchens.
The gardens are fantastic, and historically noteworthy. The chateau occupies the site of a medieval castle. The old fortress walls were removed to create the gardens.
The history, well... it's a matter of vanity once again. But what results!
Go to this place - - It's wonderful.
The surrounding village is also charming, with some good restaurants!
Chateau de Hautefort - Dordogne, France
A rare testimony to classic architecture in Périgord, the château is a furnished stately home, decorated in keeping with the fashions of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Hautefort was originally a medieval fortress, transformed in time into the beautiful castle of today.

CHANTIER CHATEAU CAMARSAC 1ÈRE PARTIE
Chateau Camarasac and 2009 Bordeaux
The UGC (L'Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux) 2009 Bordeaux tasting that was
hosted at the Doral Country Club in Miami last January was an incredible event and
reminded me of the great tastings that I had attended in Bordeaux in years past. As these
KILLER 2009 vintage wines arrive I get excited when there is a wine that comes in that
have not already sold on futures!
There were 109 wines presented for tasting at the Doral with the UGC and I needed the
entire 4 hours to make it through all of them. Unfortunately I had to rush through the
Sauternes to make it and although it appears to be an outstanding vintage all around in
2009, Sauternes was not the highlight for me.
I made my way through the room starting with the Merlot based wines of St. Emilion. My
palate gets a bit fatigued at around 100 wines so the fact that I tasted these wines first
may have swayed my opinion but at the end of the day the right bank came out on top for
me.
They are incredibly rich and forward wines making excellent choices for drinking today
but they also have wonderful balance and freshness making them a good choice for setting
aside in your cellar for a decade or more. This type of a vintage rarely happens in
Bordeaux.
The Pomerols were not far behind St. Emilion with ripe and seductive fruit along with
chunky tannins, very drinkable wines but after drinking 20 of these Merlot based wines
you started to notice the tannin levels of these wines were in fact very high they are just
super ripe.
There were very little Bordeaux Superior available to taste at the UGC but with the
quality of everything on the table that night I knew that everything including the everyday
wines were going to be something special from 2009.
The imposing fortress of the Château de Camarsac, surrounded by its vineyard, is one of
the most astonishing sites of the Bordeaux region. Built during the 12th century, the estate
has been occupied by the Black Prince, Duquesclin, Lord of Canteloup and the Marquis
de Geres. Purchased by Lucien Lurton in 1973 and now under the direction of Thierry
Lurton, Château de Camarsac aims to make wines that are smooth yet structured. The
combination of family know-how, modern techniques, tradition and passion makes these
wines a worthy representative of the excellence of Bordeaux.

Château de Fénelon, Dramatic Fortress in Dordogne, France
Château de Fénelon occupies a rocky promontory, surrounded by a triple wall and terraces, above the village of Saint Mondane, southeast of Sarlat.
The castle dates from the 13th century, but most of what remains was rebuilt in the 16th century.
The castle was a Cathare stronghold during the 12 and 13th centuries and it went on to play a strategic role during the Hundred Years War.
The current owners have carefully maintained the chateau, and furnished several of the rooms with authentic, characteristic items. Visitors are graciously invited.
