Château Ventenac - La Réserve de Jeanne 2014 - Cabardès
Château Ventenac - La Réserve de Jeanne 2014 - Cabardès tasted 100% blind by the Best Sommelier of the World, Andreas Larsson.
Medium towards deep colour, dark ruby with a slight hint of purple. The nose indicates youth. Very floral, with mostly primary fruit, plum, blackberry. Some mild spiciness, pepper and anise seed. Nothing oaky or roasted. Nicely rounded on the palate. There is I would say medium weight, but with a good presence of fruit. Again I get this nice sensation of freshly crushed berries. Rather mild tannin. So a mellow, rounded texture. Good freshness. Quite long finish, with an attractive spiciness and that juicy fruit. So I would say, a good drinkability today, really enjoyable. It should evolve for a few years in a good cellar.

Château Tourril - Livia 2013 - Minervois
Château Tourril - Livia 2013 - Minervois tasted 100% blind by the Best Sommelier of the World, Andreas Larsson.
Very dense colour slightly blue-purple at the core with a rather high viscosity. Very attractive nose here. There is plenty of fruit, I would say quite opulent. This is underlined by some roasted oak. Hint of smokiness and vanilla. With ripe blackberry, cherry. Hint of mild spiciness like clove and black pepper. Very good bite on the palate. I think this is well-balanced because it has a quite high amount of tannin. But finely grainy, so nothing harsh or angular. Good acidity as well giving a lift to that opulent, dark fruit. Fine spiciness going on but predominantly that juicy dark ripe fruit. The oak is less noticeable on the palate as well. Really good grip and length on the finish. This is still a youthful wine without complexity that comes with age. I would say it is excellent potential I already take great pleasure in drinking this for that generosity and fruitiness, but it should develop really well. So a fine example.

Château Pech Latt - Tamanova 2014 - Corbières
Château Pech Latt - Tamanova 2014 - Corbières tasted 100% blind by the Best Sommelier of the World, Andreas Larsson.
Quite intense colour, purple core. Very youthful nose. Almost like freshly fermented wine with some floral notes, dark plum, violet, dark berries. No evident oak. Slight hint of herbal spiciness like garni bouquet garni. Nicely made on the palate. It is clearly a very young wine, but it is nicely rounded in terms of texture. Well-rounded, rather mellow tannins, well-preserved acidity. Dark purple fruit like blackberry. Good level of drinkability. Medium towards long finish. In terms of weight it is somewhere in that medium range, but with a good juiciness, good fruitiness and already presents itself pretty well.

Domaine De Tholomies 2013 - Minervois La Livinière
Domaine De Tholomies 2013 - Minervois La Livinière tasted by the Best Sommelier in the World Andreas Larsson.
Concentrated Opulent Fruit, Chocolate Powder Tannin, Rich Texture
Very intense colour, still very black centre with a purple blue rim, colouring the glass. Intense nose, very modern, high degree of ripeness, ripe dark berries, blackberry, cassis, some dark chocolate in there. We have new wood in there but it’s well concealed beneath that layer of dark fruit; vanilla, some roasted notes. Very dense palate, good degree of concentration. I think it’s a fine balance between the tannins, that are grainy, almost like chocolate powder, giving a lift to that sweet opulent fruit. It’s obviously a rich texture, but I still think it keeps within the frame of a balanced and fresh wine. Oak is more integrated on the palate than on the nose. Very warm and friendly, with a sweet fruit profile. Well balanced, I think it has a quite attractive drinkability to it already now, I would however after opening it up put it in a decanter half an hour before drinking it. Showing a very good length, very persistent on the palate. A nice and modern style of Southern French Languedoc style without losing their identity, and well-treated oak finally. A wine that certainly has the potential to be aged for quite many years in the cellar, but I would be happy to open it rather in its youth and enjoy it with a nice chunky steak.
