England: The Duchess & Chatsworth House
Chatsworth House is one of the great Stately Homes of England and some 30 years ago I had the pleasure and privilege of filming the estate and gardens as a guest of Debo, the Duchess of Devonshire. Debo was one of the famous Mitford Sisters and when she died last year I recalled her graciousness in allowing me access to her staff, the house and the incredible works of art that it contains. This abbreviated feature & interview is cut from a lengthier tv special on England that I produced in the late 1980s and reveals how hard she and her husband had to work to save the home from the crippling death duties of their ancestors. The Olympic Torch arrives at Chatsworth House
Incredibly it is said that the Olympic Torch is within 10 miles of every citizen living in the United Kingdom. Beautiful Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, set in 1,000 acres of parkland seemed the perfect setting, and we were blessed with glorious weather

Preserving a British Treasure: How to Support Chatsworth House
Home to the Cavendish family since 1549, Chatsworth is looked after by a registered charity – the Chatsworth House Trust. The Charity works tirelessly to conserve, restore, and maintain Chatsworth and the Devonshire Collection to the highest standard, enabling it to be enjoyed by as many people as possible. As Sotheby’s New York unveils Treasures from Chatsworth – a rare, public exhibition of works from the fabled Devonshire Collection, we ask you to help us protect Chatsworth, so that future generations are able to share in the beauty of its magnificent gardens and treasures. Visit Chatsworth.org/America to support crucial conservation projects, from the restoration of the archives to the structural reinforcement of the famous garden Cascade.
Free of charge and open to the public, Treasures from Chatsworth will be on view from 28 June through 18 September 2019 in Sotheby’s renovated New York galleries, located at 1334 York Avenue.

We went to visit to Chatsworth House today. Unfortunately half of the building under refurbishment but it is still worth a visit. The house has a beautiful park around it which is covers about 1,000 acres.
