Brahma, Beejamandal & Ghantai Temples...Khajuraho series (6)
Brahma Temple is located on the banks of Khajur Sagar or Ninora Tal. It is constructed in 900 AD. Today this shrine is called Brahma, but it has a four-faced Shiva linga in the Sanctum and the lintel above the sanctum door clearly indicates that it once was dedicated to Vishnu. The projection on the east contains the entrance with Ganga and Yamuna at the base. Beejamandal Temple near the Chaturbhuj temple is in ruins now. But from the remaining structure it can be seen that the temple had highly decorated exterior walls. Beejamandal is located in Jatkara village, Khajuraho, that has not yet been fully excaved and explored. There is a tradition of lighting a holy lamp in this temple by villagers staying near the temple every night inside the temple complex. The Ghantai temple is Constructed between 950 and 1050 AD.
The name of the Ghantai temple is derived from the beautifully carved figures of chain-and-bell, also known as ghanta, on its tall and huge pillars. The walls of the temple are beautifully decorated with display of 16 dreams of Mahavira's mother. The temple also has a stone carved image of Mahavira's mother, which is represented as a multi-armed Jain goddess hovering on a winged Garuda.

The Chandela Rajputs constructed the Khajuraho temples between 950 and 1050 A.D. The name Khajuraho comes from the Khajur tree (the date palm tree) which is found in abundance in the area. These temples are considered the high point of Indian architectural genius in the medieval period. Khajuraho was the capital city of the Chandela rulers. It was the Chandela rulers who built these wonderful temples, known all over the world for their passionate sculptures.

Chaturbhuj Temple, Orchha - orchha चतुर्भुज मंदिर ओरछा chaturbhuj temple (1554-1592)
Chaturbhuj Temple, Orchha
Chaturbhuj Temple, devoted to Vishnu, is arranged at Orchha in Madhya Pradesh, India. The name Chaturbhuj is the place 'chatur' signifying four and 'bhuj' signifying arms which truly means one who has four arms and alludes to Rama a symbol of Vishnu. The temple has a complex multi-storied basic view which is a mix of temple, stronghold and castle building highlights. Chaturbhuj Temple in Orchha is a standout amongst the most spectacular and old structural wonders of the time in the town. It was worked by ruler Madhukar in the middle of the years 1558 and 1573.
History of Chaturbhuj Temple
The temple was built by the Bundela Rajputs of the kingdom of Orchha. Its development was started by Madhukar Shah and finished by his child, Vir Singh Deo. in the mid sixteenth century. Madhukar Shah assembled the temple for his significant other, Rani Ganesh Kunwari.
As indicated by a nearby legend, the temple was worked after the ruler had a fantasy appearance by Lord Rama guiding her to manufacture a temple for Him; while Madhukar Shah was a lover of Krishna, his significant other's devotion was to Rama. Following the endorsement to fabricate the Chaturbhuja Temple, the ruler went to Ayodhya to get a picture of Lord Rama that should have been cherished in her new temple. When she returned from Ayodhya with the picture of Rama, at first she kept the icon in her royal residence, called Rani Mahal, as the Chaturbhuj Temple was still under development. She was, in any case, ignorant of an order that the picture to be revered in a temple couldn't be kept in a royal residence. When the temple development was finished and the symbol of the master must be moved for establishment at the Chaturbhuj Temple, it would not be moved from the royal residence.
Architecture of Chaturbhuj Temple
The sublime engineering of Chaturbhuj Temple, Orchha in Madhya Pradesh draws in a large number of guests consistently. The temple remains on a tremendous, stone stage, which itself is an elevated rectangular structure with a straightforward outside, ornamented on two expansive and four little towers. Chaturbhuj temple inside is somewhat without cutting trimming. The incredible loftiness of its roof is an abnormal component in a hindu temple.
Chaturbhuj temple, apparently partitioned into three bits. The primary temple with the Garbhagriha has the tallest Shikhara which gives a wonderful impression of a temple design mixed with that of castle. The focal segment of the temple has gone up in four story. The third bit of this temple on all the three sides looks like the castle of the focal bit. While, the fourth and last segment is in the state of a portal which is still stayed empty.
Importance of Chaturbhuj Temple
Legends state that when Lord Rama's object of worship which is put at the Rani Niwas, the private living arrangement of Raja Madhukar significant other Maha Rani Gansh Kunwar, rejected to move to the temple, a symbol of Lord Vishnu with four arms was kept in the temple and this is the means by which the temple came to be known as Chaturbhuj Temple. Lotus insignias and different images of religious significances give a sensitive outside ornamentation. Inside the sanctum is virtuously plain with high, vaulted dividers underlining its profound sacredness.

Khajuraho Lalguan Mahadev Temple
LALGUAN MAHADEV TEMPLE
85 temples once adorned the city of Khajuraho. This does not seem to be an improbability in view of the numerous ruins round about Khajuraho village, extending far and wide. Most of the temples are, however lost except for nearly thirty which withstood centuries of neglect and the catastrophies of Nature, and still stand erect to tell the glory that was Khajuraho.
It is one of the two temples of Khajuraho facing west. The other one is Chaturbhuj Temple.
Lalguan Mahadev temple is built with granite and sandstone mixed together.
